Part 17: Whys X And X Byes

  Before I could process what happened, I took a glance of one of her tongues attempted to attack me in my stomach. I managed to dodge and sprint out of the blow, really saving my life. In case it will get me, I increased the bandages around my body to keep me protected.

  But because of my carelessness, it reached my waist, slicing my skin with the sharp edges of its tongue. My eyes widened as I noticed this.

   I never thought that its tongue could even surpass my body armour, just like it was never even made of Nen from the first place. That's where I realized that the tongues are more dangerous than I think it was.

  I cried out of pain, as blood started rushing from the wound. As soon as I landed on the ground, away from the monster, I saw my waist now stained with my own blood, scattered on my clothes.

Come to think of it, this might also be what my victims before felt. Those bodyguards that I killed, the lady in the Hunter Exam, and the Chimera Ants, I never even think of imagining what they were experiencing as I took over their lives.

  I'm really heartless, and I think I deserved this injury.

  "Secco!" I heard Gon and Killua yelled at the same time, but I raised my hand and gestured to not come for her aid. I don't want to be a burden at this fight, especially if the enemy is still active. So it's better if they're alert.

  I also saw Killua, since he's behind Alexandra all this time, attempted to kick and put more electricity on her head. He successfully did so, but the monster was awake later on. Since he knew he couldn't be able to defeat her with just him shocking her head, he used this time to sprint back.

  Even if I was now dying inside of this pain, I wouldn't let them save me. There are much worse injuries I had before other than this.

  But as I just rested on my own, was about to use my First Aid Kit to my injury, I felt something moving from my waist. At the same time, the sting and the pain that I suffered started to fade.

  Because of this, I lifted my shirt and took a peek at my waist. What I saw widened my eyes and I couldn't believe that it was happening.

Purple wrinkly skin started to take over the wound, like a blood clot but it used the monstrous skin that I despised the most. As it kept closing the wound, the pain continued to disappear. Then, that means...

I'm regenerating?

  When I realized this, I don't know if I would be glad or not. The fact that I could do this made me nervous and scared on what I will become. Not to mention, the purple skin just stayed there, telling me that more of them will attach to my body once I will get injured next time.

  It's not just about me going wild and activating my monstrous arms once again, but it feels like my body was being taken over by the arms itself.

  Because of this, my whole body shivered. I don't know what's becoming of me. Am I turning into a monster as well? Am I just gonna end up like before?

  "Secco!" I heard Gon yelled and approached me. I told him to not come near me, but it seems like he didn't listen. Well, it's always been like that. He never tried to think about his safety.

   Killua also looked at me with worry and desperately wanted to come here, but he knew that if he will do that, then we're all gonna die.

That's right. There was no time to look out for myself. I have to do anything to protect Gon from that maniac.

  I stood up, since my injuries are mysteriously healed, and removed all the bandages around my body, from my waist, legs, and arms. Now, my body was unprotected, but at least, I have my own weapons and I could be able to think straight.
