Part 24: The X Real X Her

  The two boys didn't dare to move an inch from their position, as they stared intensely at the girl in front of them. It was a two-versus-one battle, and yet, they were cautious of Secco's actions. They're not to blame, however, since her tentacle tongues could lead to their death with just a tiny mistake.

   Even just a small strike of the edges wounded James on his cheek, which is an attack that he even dodged. If only they were normal, slow, non-Nen-using people, they'll be dead minutes ago. The tongues' sharp edges like blades weren't their only capabilities. Their speed like that of a fast-moving whip won't let anyone escape.

Because of this deadly tongues, even Secco couldn't be able to handle it, as her mouth that was full of it, where it was actually coming from, started to bleed with blood pouring on the ground like a faucet that had been turned on to its maximum capacity. If she didn't have regenerating ability, she'd be dead earlier because of her own strength.

  Now, her blood was dripping on the floor like a pool. It was too hurting for the two boys to see her getting tortured like that, but they couldn't be able to get near her.

  "Gugghhhh...." Secco growled, but this time, it wasn't just her voice that came out from her mouth, but rather a mixture of hers and another otherwordly one.

  It was like it came from a demon that was possessing her. If they existed, then that is the only explanation one could think of when hearing her.

  She wasn't even standing straight. She was standing with her crooked back and head, to the point that it could almost break if bended enough. She was now look like a walking corpse, being controlled by puppet strings.

"AHHHHHHHH!!"

  She screeched at the top of her lungs, screaming like a banshee warning the people of their deaths. But because of the otherworldly voice, it seems like she will be the one that will bring them death.

   Her tongues were now back in action and started charging towards them. They dodged every single attacking tongues, while attempting to stop them using their Nen techniques.

  James used his Frozen Touch to freeze the incoming tongues and burn them with the coldness. Because he couldn't be able to touch them due to their sharp edges, he removed his red plaid top, folded it, and freezed it with his ice, now became a long thin weapon. It might not be functional like a normal one, but it could help him in touching the tongues. Now, she was only wearing his galaxy shirt.

   Using this, he could be able to freeze them one by one, as some of them were now freezing on the floor.

  "Guhhhhh...."

  He turned his eyes towards Secco, who doesn't seem to be affected by his ice attacks, even though the tongues were clearly parts of her body. Her eyes were still cold and clouded, colder than his Hatsu. He started to doubt if it was still the Secco that they were trying to save, if it was still the same girl that stopped him from his killing job. But at this point, in order to free her from the misery, they didn't have a choice but to resort to violence.

  He turned around to see his companion, who had been busy defeating the other tongues using his electricity. His blue sapphire eyes were focused on the girl at a distance, and giving her the intense look. Despite them being crystal blue, calm and secretive, one could see the fire burning in those. He might also be hating seeing her at that state, the reason why he was determined to save her.

  James couldn't help but to let out a smirk. Of course, he also cared for Secco, but compared to him, Killua's bond and Secco's importance to him was out of measure. The determination that could be able to change a person, was now showing in him.
