8 : Bubbling Over

"I can't."

"Raina, you have to tell him. If you don't, I will." Cooper and I were still arguing in his study.

"Cooper please understand that he can't know. Can't we work around this?"

"Not if dad declares a war on all of our packs and tells Braelyn. I mean, the whole war would be in your honor." He grinned a little.

"Yeah, I know the war would be my fault you idiot." I laughed lightly.

"Just do the right thing and tell him." Cooper softened his tone.

"Okay. I guess I have to." I sulked out of his study and found my way outside. I immediately I saw Braelyn and motioned for him to come talk to me in the woods.

"Whats wrong?" Braelyn searched my face for any clues on why I was so gloomy.

"I have to show you something." I led him to the place we first met. Where I was in my wolf form.

"I remember this place." He mumbled.

"I need to tell you something really important. Just remember that you have to stay calm."

"Okay?" He looked at me in confusion.

"I'm not a lycanthropy kid. I'm a werewolf. Heir of an alpha. I shifted when I was 12 and not 13. That's why my dad thought I was a lycanthropy kid. I don't know why I didn't say I was a werewolf. I regret my decisions now but whats done is done. I think about it every day and I regret not telling you."

A silence washed over us like a tsunami.

"Why are you telling me now?" He muttered after a couple moments. He didn't look me in the eye. He didn't even look at me. "Why didn't you say anything the minute we first met? Why did you lie to me all this time?!" His voice had gradually gotten louder each time. "Did you not love me enough to tell me?" His voice was hollow.

"Braelyn, I was trying to keep you safe. I only told you now because my dad is about to declare a war on Cooper's pack and ours."

"Would you have kept this a secret your whole life?" He glanced up at me and a tear slowly slipped down his cheek.

"No! Never! I would have told you. I was going to tell you after I knew you wouldn't freak out but this kind of popped up so I had to."

"Shift."

"Huh?"

"Shift. For me. So I know you aren't lying."

I shifted into my large wolf.

"So you were that wolf." He sighed under his breath. "Raina, how could you do this to me? My wolf has almost left me because he wanted his mate."

I whimpered in my wolf form. My wolf had felt depressed as well.

"I'm going to shift." He pushed my head down gently so I couldn't see him undress. Soon, a furry head was nudging me.

I felt a tear slip out of my eye. His wolf was huge in comparison to mine. I can't believe I could've gone my whole life not seeing his wolf. I whimpered a little. We both shifted back and changed.

"Braelyn, I'm so sorry. I thought that if I didn't tell you, you wouldn't rejected me. I can't lose you. I was going to wait until you marked me to tell you. Then you couldn't leave me."

"You thought I would reject you?"

"Please understand that I have been told my whole life that I was worthless. Even before my father gave me to the omega family. I just felt like if I would wait to tell you, you couldn't leave me because you thought I was some low life scum. I don't like being treated like that. I really don't." My voice quivered.

"Raina, I would love you no matter what. I just feel betrayed by you lying to me all this time. But I'm going to keep loving you. And I'm going to protect you from your father."

"I'm so sorry."

"Find her! Or I will kill all of you!" I slammed my fist on the oak desk. "I will torture you until you beg me to kill you."

"Alpha, what even is the plan?" A warrior stood meekly in front of my desk, seperate from the hustle and bustle of people working in my study.

"To kill her."

"We found her!" Someone yelled.

I grinned. "She's in for a suprise."
