"Raina?"

"Yes?" I looked at Braelyn. He had just been deep in thought while typing an email on his laptop. Now he was intensely staring at me.

"I kind of wanted to go see Cooper."

"Huh? Why?" Why would he want to see Cooper?

"I mean, he is your brother and all. I just want to talk to him about stuff." He looked back at the screen. "And apparently he wants to meet up too. He just emailed back."

"What? Braelyn! Why would you want to talk to him?"

"Lots of stuff." He looked stern. Did he know?

"Braelyn? Please tell me." I softened my voice.

"I just need to talk to him about alpha duties and if he is going to become a pack or not. If he doesn't, I have to destroy him and whatever he calls his little safe house."

"Braelyn! He's my brother. Without his house, you never would have found me! Even if you did eventually find me, you probably would have rejected me." I looked down at my hands that were clasped to a mug of coffee.

"Why would I have rejected you?" He glanced at my fingers that were gripping the glass a little too tightly. My fingers were turning pale.

"Don't you remember when we first met? I told you guys my back story. There was a detail in there that was very vital." He looked deep in thought.

"You were in an omega family." Anger flashed through his eyes briefly and then I couldn't tell.

"See? You wouldn't have accepted me." I felt tears threaten to fall.

"Raina, I would've accepted you no matter what."

"You just wish I was a werewolf. Also that I was a heir of an alpha." My eyes were blurring.

"Raina, you are technically the heir of an alpha."

"So I'm only partially your dream girl? God, I shouldn't have come to your pack. I shouldn't have trusted my instincts." A tear slipped out of one eye. Then another. Soon, tears were flowing down my face like a waterfall.

"Raina-" He cut himself off. Pain flashed in his eyes. He closed his eyes. He breathed in heavy breaths. "Go to your room. I can't control my wolf much longer."

"I'm not a child. I don't need to listen to you." I blubbered.

"You do this time. Please Raina. I don't want to hurt you!" He opened his eyes and looked at me. His eyes were begging me with every ounce in him.

"Okay." I ran up the stairs and into the guest bedroom. I closed the door and locked it. I backed up until my back hit something hard. I freaked out and turned around. A guy was standing there. He looked tired. Xavier. "What in the-"

"Cooper told me to come get you. He never told me why. I just kind of freaked out. We have to go. Now." He grabbed my wrist and started walking toward the window.

"We can't! Braelyn is downstairs and he is having difficulty controlling his wolf. If I leave him and he sees me, he will flip out."

"Okay. I'll go out the window. You calm him down and say you have to go. Come meet me out back. I will have already shifted. You can climb on top of my back sand ride a little that way until we get out of his territory. Then you can shift."

"He'll want to come though." I can't believe I'm planning to leave my mate.

"Then I guess he can come. Cooper said he was coming to visit him anyways."

"But I'm pretty sure Braelyn is questioning my lycanthropy."

"Don't worry. You don't have to shift at all. Go calm him down."

"Okay."

"I'm out back, okay?"

"Okay." I turned and ran downstairs. "Braelyn?" He wasn't anywhere.

"Raina?" Braelyn's growl pierced my ears. He was upstairs.

"Yeah?"

"Why does it smell like another guy in your bedroom?"

"It's Xavier. He said that Cooper needs me now. I have to go. Can you come with?" I had already walked up the stairs and was in the doorway of the bedroom.

"Yeah. I'm not leaving you alone with him." He growled lightly.

"He's out back." I was about to go out the window but realize that Braelyn would know I was a werewolf.

"You can ride on my back." He grabbed my hand and picked me up.

[...]

We had arrived at Cooper's house. Braelyn and Xavier had already shifted. Cooper was outside.

"I need to talk to Raina alone." Cooper grabbed my wrist and pulled me inside. "Dad knows." He blurted out after we had gotten safely inside his study.

"What? How?!" I stared at him.

"Robin."

"Crap. I shifted right in front of her. I forgot about that."

"Yeah well dad wouldn't have believed her if it wasn't for his skill to see what people are thinking."

"Well what am I going to do?!"

"Well I'm turning this into a pack so the people here can stay safe and also so that dad can't destroy me." He smiled a little. "But you on the other hand, you have to tell your mate so he can help you."

"Cooper! I can't! He was angry at me the other day for saying something minor about myself! Imagine what will happen if I tell him that!"

"You have to." He looked confused. "Don't you feel a burden about not telling him?"

"Of course I do."

"Then tell him."

"Cooper-"

"Tell him."
