THIRD PERSON POV

Elizabeth slowly creeped her eyes open after a long nights rest. It was far too light in her room still be morning which meant that Elizabeth had somehow slept until noon which was very unlike her, but that wasn't what was bothering her, no in fact she was quite sure she had had a dream about Meliodas, but for the life of her she couldn't remember what it was about.
She simply sat in bed for multiple minutes trying to remember but it quickly became apparent that she wasn't going to remember it so she simply brushed it off and went to get ready for the day she had a greed to spend with Jelamet.

Jelamet had been exactly right, it had been a long time since they had had a girls night out, just the two of them, mostly because when they were together Mael was often a part of their circle and would join.
Elizabeth knew it was because he secretly crushed on her, but she hasn't commented on it, nor would she, because it would seem that Jelamet haven't picked up on that fact, so since Elizabeth knew that she was in love with him she wasn't going to ruin that for her, in hopes that Mael might change his mind later on.

Soon enough Elizabeth's door was slammed open making Elizabeth let out a startled Yelp.
Behind her she then immediately heard Jelamet's soft laughter and Elizabeth couldn't help but laugh herself.
"Are you about ready to go?" Jelamet put her arm over Elizabeth's shoulder.

"Just one moment" Elizabeth said hurriedly. It was her first time going out for real in a very long time so she wanted to look good. At least just a little bit of make up just to highlight her features.

"Sure!" Jelamet said and flopped down on Elizabeth bed, but something on her nightstand caught her eye.
"Oh my god, I remember this from when we were kids!" Jelamet picked up the scroll.
She had had it read to her many times when am she was little, but she easily remembered that it had always been Elizabeth's favorite.
"Feeling nostalgic Ellie?"

Elizabeth began to laugh awkwardly.
"Y-yes! Nostalgic! That's right..." Elizabeth convinced Jelamet rather easily, but the topic was making Elizabeth uncomfortable so she finished up a little quicker than she would've liked.
"Okay let's go"

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

Elizabeth and Jelamet went to a small cafe that they'd loved for years and went to almost every time they hung out, mostly with Mael in tow however.
"You know what Elizabeth?" Jelamet began and immediately got Elizabeth's attention.
"I don't know if it's just because we unfortunately havnt hung out in a while, but it's almost like you got a glow about you now?" She said sweetly but then grinned her signature grin.
"You're sure there's no boys in your heart?"

"Jelamet stoop!" Elizabeth laughed and whined, but to Jelamet it wasn't a definite "no" so she kept teasing her.
But Elizabeth's mind soon faded to an image of Meliodas.
She certainly didn't like him in the way that Jelamet was thinking of, but Elizabeth was definitely willing to believe that having met him gave her a boost of happiness.

She hadn't been listening to Jelamet at all, so when she heard "maybe I should come with you to the surface one day" she had no idea what prompted it.
Jelamet had never been interested in going despite Elizabeth begging her to, but now it was different.
It was strange but Elizabeth wasn't Ready for anyone but her to know about Meliodas.

"No!" Elizabeth said panicked, way louder than she intended, which she saw also confused Jelamet, so Elizabeth knew that she had to come up with a valid reason.
"You're right!" Elizabeth yelled and immediately regretted it, but she had dug her own grave, now she might just as well lay in it.
"I am...seeing..a boy" Elizabeth sighed and put her head on the table.

"Elizabeth!" Jelamet said with absolute glee, but Elizabeth was thinking of a way to keep Jelamet quiet on the matter.

"Don't tell ANYBODY! Promise me Jelamet" Elizabeth begged her friend.

"What? But why? It's a happy occasion isn't it?" Jelamet's smile was gone as she leaned back in her chair trying to figure it out.

"Well I-...we...we're not official Y'know...and uh.. He's a...a commoner! A lowly commoner! So uh...my- my mom...wouldn't like him" Elizabeth stammered as she came up with a lie on the spot.
It was a miracle that Jelamet couldn't see straight through her.

"So what...it's like..a summer fling?"

"Yes! Yes exactly!" Elizabeth smiled and nodded continuously, seeming weird.
Elizabeth had always been one of the goths to say that She wanted to fall in love with the right guy, so to Jelamet it was a little odd that she was in that kind of relationship, but she want Gonna judge her.

"Okay" Jelamet put a hand on top of Elizabeth's, seeming comforting.
"I won't tell a soul, and if you don't have to say anything more of you don't want to"

Elizabeth let out a relived sigh. "Thank you" she says and then quickly decided to change the subject drastically.

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

Late at night when Elizabeth got home she threw herself upon her bed and started punching the mattress.
"I'm an idiot! How could I be so stupid?!" She screamed into her pillow so nobody else would hear her.
Not only did Elizabeth hate lying, but the thought of faking a relationship with Meliodas was something she couldn't at all comprehend. He was an entirely different race, and she didn't even know him all that well.

All the thinking only made Elizabeth regret her decision even more. She had been put on the spot, and as she normally does in those kinds of situations she didn't think and just blurted something out.
"I'm an idiot" she repeated the phrase from earlier.
She just wanted to sleep the problem away.

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

The next morning the things were still swarming her mind.
One part of her wanted to go see Meliodas and simply lock up where they left, while the other wanted to never go to the surface ever again and just stay with her face buried in her pillow.
But she knew she couldn't stay that way, she had to get up and face the day. Act like nothing had changed.

She got up and did her morning routine, but now instead of immediately leaving the palace and going to the surface she decided to go to the dining hall where the chefs always had food prepared, wether she'd actually come around to eat it or not. Elizabeth felt a little guilty about that but they always tone her not to worry.
It was funny that in some ways the servant was more understanding towards Elizabeth than her mother and friends.

She swam into the dining hall quickly greeting one of the servants but not scamming the room otherwise.

"Good morning dear"

"Ah!" Elizabeth backed and flinched. "Mother? Why are you here?" Elizabeth asked and blinked at her mother in confusion. Her mother was often so busy, she normally duchy have time to eat with Elizabeth, and normally Elizabeth was happy when she on the rare occasion did, but after yesterday she now feared that Jelamet had broken her promise and told her mother.

"Is it wrong for a mother to want to eat breakfast with her daughter?" Her mother smiled, not a hint of disappointment or deceit, so Elizabeth finally let happiness overcome her as she swam to go sit in front of her mother.

"You were out with Jelamet last night, as I right?"

Elizabeth nodded. "It was nice. I hadn't realized how long it had been since we were out"

"Well I'm glad you enjoyed yourself dear" her mother smiled at her before focusing her attention on her food but after a few moments she focused back on her daughter.
"I do hope you will become more social, pet hair that will quench your longing to always be at the surface"

Elizabeth smiled even though her mother's words hurt her.
She knew that she was going her best that is why she never decided to tell her mother when she would say things that did in fact hurt her.

Elizabeth had never been very social, it was why her only friends were Mael and Jelamet, and maybe her mother was right, maybe that is why she began to love the surface. Because she was alone up there.
But she wasn't anymore, and oddly enough, she was completely fine with that.
Thinking of that the awkward feeling of having to see Meliodas began to disappear, and she made up her mind that she would go to the surface after breakfast.

She almost wanted to laugh out loud, after all there she sat making place of going to the exact place her mother had just says she wished she would stop going to.
