Chapter 9:GIRL MEETS DEVIL

You jerked up from the bed by a loud noise banging on your eardrums. Switching off the alarm, your eyes almost popped out of their sockets when you saw the time on your phone.

Fuck!I'm late!!!!

Jumping off the bed, you ran towards the bathroom. Five minutes later, you put on your uniform after a quick shower and ran out of your apartment with your backpack. Luckily, the bus was just leaving when you reached the bus stand. You hopped on the bus and let out an audible sigh.

10 minutes later, the bus reached your school and you got down before bowing to the driver, thanking him for the ride. You entered the gate and headed towards your classroom. When you reached the door, you were already panting for running this long. Your homeroom teacher, Mr.Kang raised his eyebrows at you. Before he could utter anything, heavy footsteps echoed through the hallways. Both you and Mr.Kang turned towards the direction and your eyes widened at the person running towards the classroom door.

Out of all people, you muttered to yourself sarcastically.

He didn't look at you yet. He was panting too, maybe because he ran here just like you. You were a few inches away from him as he stood beside you, his gaze fixed on Mr.Kang who seemed absolutely pissed off.

"This is too disappointing to see you two standing there. I didn't expect both of you to be late today. I wouldn't be this upset if you weren't the top students in my class", Mr.Kang uttered.

Yeah yeah. I forgot. 'The 1st girl and the 2nd boy' shit, you scoffed in your mind.

Just as the words spilled from Mr.Kang's mouth, Yoongi shifted his gaze on you. He was shocked to see you standing there beside him. But soon the gaze turned into a dark one and you gulped.

"Well, you left me no choice. This can't be happening. You were absent for the last two days, Mr.min. And Ms.Lee, this is the third time you're late this week! Is this what you call discipline? What would the other students if the top students are like this?", if smokes could emit through the ears, you bet you could definitely see that happening before your eyes when Mr.Kang spilled those words with rage.

None of you could utter a word and hung your heads low. Mr.Kang sighed before continuing, "Since this isn't the first time, I have to give you detentions. Mr.Min and Ms.Lee, you both will clean the classroom after the class ends today". You both nodded. 

"I will let you in for today. But I won't tolerate this next time. Yoongi, I don't know what happened to you but I believe that you'll be attentive from now on, I'll be rooting for you", he said to Yoongi and he nodded in response.

"And Y/N", he turned towards you making you look up at his face, "You are one of my most favorite students. I've always been adoring you because of what you're going through but still managed to keep your grades high. I expect a lot from you, Y/N.Because of that, I convinced the school authority to-

"Sir", you cut him off with pleading eyes, "I promise I won't be late again and I'll behave from now on. Can we please talk about this later?"

Ever since your father had gone to the comma, you had been doing multiple part-time jobs to pay your school fees as well as the other expenses. Though Hoseok has begged you thousand times to help you pay your school fees, you didn't agree. He even offered you to take the money as a debt that you'll pay him back once you're financially stable. But you didn't listen to him since you didn't want to take advantage of your friendship. Judging by your stubborn nature, he knew that nothing would change your decision no matter how hard he tries. So he did what seemed to be the last way to help you. He went to Mr.Kang and told him about your dad and all the struggles you're doing. Hearing everything, Mr.Kang agreed to help you and made a negotiation with the school authority. Since your grades were pretty high and you were the top student in the class, they decided to give you a full free studentship as a reward. When Hoseok told you about the scholarship, you were a bit mad at him for not telling you beforehand. But when you thought about it carefully, it didn't seem wrong. They are rewarding you for your good performances, there's nothing wrong with this. So you agreed with Hoseok and he could finally breathe to know that he was able to reduce your stress about at least one thing. Only the school authority, you, Hoseok, and Mr.Kang knew about this scholarship and you requested them not to tell anyone else because you didn't want people to pity you. Though Mr.Kang was proud of you and wanted to brag about this to the other students, he promised to keep his mouth shut despite your request.
