Chapter 15:PERSONAL HELL

The following day was Sunday, so none of you had to go to school. The boys were still sleeping when you woke up. You were scared to sleep alone in the guest room last night, so you slept with Hoseok in Jungkook's room. You got up and checked the time. It was 8:25 am. Your eyes widened and you gasped, realizing you had to go to your part-time job at the coffee shop and you're already late. You rushed to the bathroom and did your morning routine as fast as you could. Since you didn't have time, you fixed your hair and decided to go to work in the same clothes you were wearing last night. Jungkook was wise enough to give you one of his t-shirts and sweatpants before starting the movie last night. You changed into your clothes and got ready before waking up Hoseok to tell him you're leaving. He insisted on joining you since he also worked in that cafe with you. Being the only son of one of the richest men in Korea didn't stop him from working at a small coffee shop as a part-time worker, only to accompany his best friend. Sometimes it makes you wonder what have you ever done to deserve an angel in a form of a best friend.

Your shifts ended at 7 pm. Since Hoseok couldn't visit your Dad in these two days after his return, he wanted to go to the hospital and you agreed. Reaching the reception, you found Merry standing in there with a kind smile plastered on her face. Merry was also a high school student like you. On the holidays, she worked in the hospital as a receptionist to financially support her family.
"Hello, Y/N!", she flashed a warm smile.
" Hey! It's been a long time! I didn't see you forever!", you exclaimed.
"Yeah...I had my exams last week so I didn't come to work. Not to mention, I missed you", she pouted.
You opened your mouth to reply but a smack on your head cut you off.
" Yah! Why didn't you wait for me?"
You glared at Hoseok and prepared to return the smack, but his flustered red face stopped you from doing that. Following his gaze, you found Merry reflecting the same crimson tint on her cheeks, fixing her gaze on the floor as soon as she saw him. You looked at him back, enjoying his panicked eyes trying to look at everywhere but her. Shaking your head, you chuckled at them. Ever since your Dad was admitted to this hospital and you met Merry, you knew that Hoseok had a crush on her. And watching her shy form, it was clear that she had a crush on him too. But none of them dared to make a move. You bugged Hoseok about it but he kept refusing, saying he doesn't have time for this.
"Ah..Y-Y/N..", Merry decided to break the awkward silence, earning a sigh of relief from Hoseok who was almost dying due to shyness," Dr. Park has checked on your Dad this morning. He asked me to hand him the medical records of your Dad from last year. I've checked the database but due to some errors, I couldn't find the one from November. Do you have the files at your home?"
You thought for a while before replying, "Yeah.. I guess. I kept the files thinking it might be needed someday. And this jerk in here had almost thrown them away because he doesn't like piled-up stuff", you pointed at Hoseok, earning a death glare in return. Once again, a deep blush appeared on their faces as soon as their eyes met and both of them looked away within a millisecond. It was funny how they panicked every time their eyes met. You decided to save the poor girl from this situation, also worrying about yourself when you'll reach home, fearing that you might get killed by your best friend.
" I'll bring the files tomorrow ", you smiled and she nodded," Okay I'm gonna visit Appa now. You can stay here if you want", you winked at Hoseok and started to walk away.
"No!!! I'll go with you", he almost freaked out and ran after you, leaving the poor girl dumbfounded with a flustered face.
"Yah! Why'd you do that?!", he screamed at you.
You shrugged," Confess her already, moron!!".
"What?? W-What are you talking about?", he blushed.
" Seriously, Jung Hoseok???It's obvious! The way you act..don't you think you make it a little too obvious?", you smirked.
"D-did I?", he was lost in thoughts and you laughed.
Sitting beside your Dad along with Hoseok,you kept blubbering about what happened the whole day like you always do. Hoseok just stared at you wondering how could God be so cruel to make a girl like you suffer so much? He found his own reflection within you. The only difference was, you lost everything and now you're losing the only family you had; but he had everything yet he has no one to call his family. That's why he decided to protect you and keep you safe. He is your family, and you are his.
