Chapter 21

(Before the date)

"so Dante, where were we gonna go?" Abby asks.
"the carnival!"
"isn't that where y/n is going with Cameron?"
"oh she is??? i had no idea"
"for an actor that was pretty bad acting" Kelly butts in.
"okay fine i did know, we're gonna run into y/n and Cameron so we can double date without having to ask Cameron if we can double date you know?"
"why do we have to double date?"
"because Cameron was acting weird about y/n's and Aidan's seven minutes in heaven and we don't want it to be awkward."
"i guess that makes sense, but why can't we ask Cameron to double date?"
"because we don't want him to think that y/n doesn't want to be alone with him."
"you don't wanna be alone with him?" Abby turns and asks you.
"i didn't say that" you put your hands up in defense "this was Dante's idea" you say.
"now it makes sense" Kelly says in a teasing tone.

*knock knock knock*
"Dante hide" Abby whispers.
"why?" he whispers back.
"because if Cameron's sees you here then he might know it's planned that we're at the carnival when they are."
"good point" he runs and hides in the closet.

You open the door.
"hey Cameron."
"are you ready for our date?"
"i am! just let me grab my jacket."
"the jacket that's in your closet??" Abby asked while signaling that Dante is in there.
"yeah! ohhhh yeah, my closet is super messy it's kind of embarrassing, just wait outside while i grab it" you say as you shut the door.
You open the closet door and see Dante just sitting there.
"can i come out now it's dark in here."
"not until i leave" you say as you grab your jacket and shut the door.

You run outside to meet up with Cameron.
"you know i don't really care if your closet is messy" he says with a chuckle.
"i know it's just kind of embarrassing because my clothes fall everywhere you know."
"yeah i guess haha, let's go" he says while holding his arm out waiting for you to link with it.
"the carnival is pretty close, so you wanna walk?" Cameron asks.
"sure, sounds fun!"

As the two of you are walking you share life stories with eachother.
"what are the odds that you'd see Aidan here, that's crazy!"
"yeah, my mom seems to think its fate, and his mom had said she knew we'd find a way back to eachother, i just never actually expected it to happen."
"in Toronto of all places, neither of you even live here so the odds of that happening, wow."
"it's so weird! and it had been so long i kind of just forgot, i mean i remembered him but i wasn't really thinking about it anymore, like we said goodbye at 10, never kept in touch or anything, and to see eachother 6 years later."
"so why did you guys say goodbye at 10, what happened."
"he had to move, it was a very hard goodbye since we had been friends before we even knew what friends were."
"what did you do after he left?"
"well i definitely cried, i didn't have friends for a while but then i met Abby when i was 12, and once i started high school i met Kelly and we've all been friends since, i never mentioned Aidan to them because assuming i'd never see him again i didn't see the point, that's why when i told them about him they had no idea."
"ohhhh yeah that makes sense, well we're here" he says.
You look up and see the carnival.
"what do you wanna do first?" Cameron asks you.
"let's go look at the map to see what they have."
The two of you look at the map and you decide you want to start with games.
You play games do a little while and then you see a booth with a giant stuffed y/f/a (your favorite animal).
"whoa look at that y/f/a!"
"i bet i can win it for you in less that 3 tries."
"really?"
"yup, watch this."
he throws the ball and knocks down 2 of the 3 pins.
he throws another ball and knocks down the last pin.
"that's quite the arm you've got there mate" the man running the booth says "so what'll it be?" he asks.
"i'll have the y/f/a" Cameron tells the man.
He hands it to him and Cameron turns and gives it straight to you.
"awww Cameron you didn't have to do that!" you say as you grab onto it and hug it.
"yeah but i wanted to, it's cute how it's bigger than you" he says with a chuckle.
