Dark Obsession

Him

Reading this may confuse some but its not really a chapter, more of a spot for character introduction.

Levi:

"Wow this girl is quite the delinquent. If she were mine she wouldn't be able to sit for at least a week after pulling a stunt like that." I said while shaking my head as I read over the file we have on a girl named Artemis. I would not tolerate that much disrespect. Innocent my ass. 

I glanced over at my beta and I could hear his heart rate spike. If I looked close enough I could see the slight trembling of his body. Something was wrong.

"What is it? You look as if you've seen a ghost" I said bemused.

"Well alpha," he only calls me alpha when something is seriously wrong. "That's actually what I wanted to talk to you about. The prince has requested that you be the one to protect and retrieve the girl." He said nervously while bowing his head in submission.

"WHAT?" I yelled. "Absolutely not"

"He said if you did this he would drop all charges against your name." he bargained

"Why me? Why not send some other warrior or one of his lap dogs. You know I don't involve myself with those royals anymore. Not after what happened last time. It never ends well for anyone. I would know."

"Everyone knows that you're the best warrior around. If you weren't then he'd have asked someone else. He needs this girl brought to him alive and unharmed before his brother catches wind of this."

"Why? What is so special about this girl?" I asked. The least he could do is tell me why she's so special since I have to put my neck on the line and commit treason by going against his older brother, our soon to be Alpha King.

"He in closed all of that information in a sealed file that I will put with your bag for you to read when you're alone."

"Why would he trust me not to harm her? I already told you if she were mine and acted the way she does she'd be in so much trouble. If I were actually with her there'd be nothing or no one to stop me. She's a beauty but she's far from innocent according to this. I don't think it would benefit anyone if she were to be left with me. I'd constantly put her ass in check and I doubt she would stick around long enough for me to bring her to him."

"You'll figure something out," he said as he grabbed his jacket and slipped it on. "You have no other choice," he said before turning and heading for the door. Right before he exited he looked over his shoulder and said, "You leave tonight. It's a long journey and you won't be returning for at least three months."

"I have to watch her for 90 days?" I complained.

"Yes" and then he exited the room no doubt to prepare my things for this long journey.
