That miserable noise of my phone shouting at me to get up makes me open my eyes and stretch before checking the time: 6:00am. Great. I get up and head to the shower.
Once I'm finally ready for my first day in my new dorm, and last day in my house. Our house. I grab my packed bags from the door and shove them into the trunk. I'm going to miss this house, but maybe I can start fresh. I quickly remembered to grab his book before locking the door and leaving.
I debated taking the letters but I'm not ready, I don't know if I ever will be ready and I didn't want to loose them. I sighed taking one last look at the house before starting my 3 hour journey to my new life.
No one knows me there so it should be refreshing. No pity, no weird looks, no fake smiles and answering the same question over and over again. „How are you?" What do they expect. I'm not going to spill my heart out and tell you what I feel just because you asked. The worst is when they don't take „Fine" for an answer and just give my that look and instead of moving on say: „no, but really how are you" You know what happened so take your guess and fuck off.
.................................................................................I look over at the time on the small screen in the middle of the controls. 9:15. A little late but as long as I don't get lost I should be fine. I turn off my car and grab my bags from the trunk. I look up at the building ahead of me, I never realised just how big it was. I'm greatful my parents insisted on paying for my college expenses ahead of time.
As I walk through the big double doors at the front of the school I sigh in relief as I spot the office. Thank god this school has a bit of common sense instead of putting the front desk as far away as they possibly can.
Two women sit behind a class window. I walk up and clear my throat to get their attention. I received a sweet smile before asking for my room key. She explained that I'd have one roommate and where I would find my dorm.
I set off down the long corridor until I find my room number. 404 is plastered on a bronze plaque. God I hope I like my roommate, I'm not known to be the most social man.
I slowly open the door and I'm met with two single beds, two desks at the end of each beds, a kitchenette further down the room past the beds, and three doors that I assume leads to the bathroom and wardrobes.
Sitting on one of the beds is a tall man. He has brown fluffy hair and blueish-green eyes. He looks up at me and starts beaming, I can already tell we're going to be polar opposites. He's sweet, social and bubbly, and I'm a moody introvert that gets easily agitated.
He stands up and walks over to me: 'Hi, I'm Karl, you must be George my new roommate. I'm so excited!' I roll my eyes as he pulls me into a hug, I can't help but giggle a bit though, something about him makes me okay with it.
'I've already unpacked my stuff in the left wardrobe, you can have the right side and then we can head to our assembly together!' Wow he has a lot of energy. 'Sounds good.' I reply simply before unpacking my belongings into the small wardrobe.
.................................................................................
It's been an hour of getting to know Karl, he grew up in the area so he knows a lot about the people here. He let me know all about the different social groups and who to stay away from. This was nice, I felt like a kid again. I had a distraction.
When we arrived in the big room packed with students, we settled for two seats near the back. Just as the assembly was about to start loud laughter came from the row behind me.
Karl and I both look over simultaneously, looking for the source of the laughter. I spot a small brunette with a button down shirt and a beanie; The source of the laughter. A slightly taller raven haired man sitting beside him, and a tall blond beside the raven haired man.
The blonde was pretty. He had bright green eyes, blonde fluffy hair, and a sharp jaw line. Nothing like him. He sat silently admiring his friends as the joked around. I was shaken out of my trance when the blonde looked up and our eyes met. We stared at each other for a second before he smirked causing my face to heat up.
This was wrong. It was too soon. I can't let this happen again.
I turn back to Karl to see he was still staring at the blonde. Or maybe not the blonde. He had a huge smile on his face as I traced his eye-line to be met with the raven haired man staring back at him, aswell as the brunette. But which one was Karl looking at.
I decided I'd let them have their moment and I'd ask him about it later. Maybe he knew them? A part of me hopes he does so I can see that blonde again, but the other part of me knows I can't be trusted.
I settle back into my seat, facing forward as I was snapped out of my thoughts by the loud voice starting the assembly. This was going to be a long day.
