I woke up to the sound of glass smashing and what I believed to be crying. I quietly followed the sound and ended up outside what looked like an office, I knocked "what is it ?" a whimpering voice said from the room "I heard glass smashing and I just wanted to check everything's alright" I said quietly trying not to wake anyone "it's fine" the voice spoke harshly. I was about to leave and go back to my room but something told me to go in to check if everything was ok.
I hesitantly opened the office door "get out!" Julia shouted at me "I'm sorry I had to see what was happening in here it didn't sound good at all" I said softly "... are you ok Dr Hoffman" I asked gently "I- I'm fine" she said trying not to let any tears escape her eyes. I could tell she wasn't ok so instead of asking again I walked up to her and hugged her tightly, at first Julia pulled away hesitant to let anyone see her like this "it's ok" I said in a calm tone she then relaxed and leaned into my arms. "What happened ?" I asked anxiously " it's nothing - I just- I was drinking and I dropped a glass and the glass cut my hands and everything is going wrong, I'm just a mess" Julia said sniffling "no you're not, it's ok" I said sympathetically.
I cleaned Julia's hands where the glass had cut her and tucked her into her bed putting a bucket to her side, I didn't want to leave her there but I knew she wouldn't have wanted anyone to see her like that so I left thinking that she would forget about this in the morning.
