Flashback

Nine years ago

I woke up to the sound of a giggle and blazing sunshine in the room. My eyes fluttered and my mouth was dry. I opened my eyes and despite the haziness, I saw a boy, my age, sitting on a chair beside the bed, talking to my friend, Mike. Mike was saying something and he was laughing. Even though my head was hurting and the disgusting smell of bleaches and antiseptic filled my nosetrils, I could feel that his sweet laughter was doing magic to my ears. Two of his front teeth flashed as he grinned and his nose was slight pink. He looked like a snowball coming out of a movie. I grunted as I tried to get up.

"Hey", the boy said, finally noticing me, "are you okay? You fell off stairs."

Mike came from behind him and helped me to sit. The boy offered me a glass of water and sat next to me, on the same bed, his lower hip touching my thighs from the side. Luckily, my body was draped in a thin blanket which somehow though barely, managed to stop the heat from him to reach to me. Wasn't he cautious of this closeness? Because I certainly was.

"Uh..I am good. Could you sit a little farther?"

Mike gasped and the boy widened his eyes before giving out an an awkward chuckle.

"I'm so sorry. I...of course I can." With that he got off from the bed and stood near the wall.

He asked, suppressing his smile, "Is it okay now?"

I moved my eyeballs up and down and everywhere else but at him.

Mike said, "Do you still have the concussion?"

"No, where is the paper I was holding?"

"Here", said the boy. His fingeres were long, slender and somewhat very beautiful.

"I have a class. Uh..take care then. See you Mike."

He walked out. My eyes kept tracing his movements until he was out of sight. I still looked at the door, hoping he would come back for something that he might have forgotten to take back with him.

"Now he's gone too far, hasn't he?" Mike said.

"What..no..I wasn't..the paper..water?"

I squealed like a dog whose tail had been bitten by its puppies.

Mike snorted, "bro relax. His name is Tine. He carried you till here."

"Whatever", I said, trying to act cool when all I felt were ridiculous butterflies fluttering in my stomach, "where's my phone?"

"Here, your grandpa called. Must be proud to hear your result."

I nodded. I think he said something about my grandpa. Did he carry me in a bridal style?

End of flashback

I felt a warm liquid seeping through my head, reaching to my mouth, leaving a salty, metallic taste on my lips. I felt numb, as if my body wasn't a part of my mind. My eyelids fluttered, I saw nothing except crass black matter of the road or perhaps my eyes were not open at all. I could hear distant whispers and a faint sound of ambulance. My eyelids fluttered and I gave up trying to keep them open.

Flashback

Pear had invited us for lunch. Our classes had just ended and we were still in our university code. I was sitting with Mike while Tine had gone to fetch our food. It was his sister's cafè after all.
