Tine's pov

I was pacing back and forth in my room. I had prepared everything I needed to make it a decent, if not an exciting dinner. I had cooked grilled fish with sprouted salad for starters, lemongrass roasted chicken and chicken green curry, much to the preferance of both. I walked around my little home. It wasn't much of a lavish promising abode but it was mine. I guessed Wat could live with that. I mentally smacked my head, get your shit together Tine. They aren't moving in, just staying the night. I checked time; half an hour had passed since he called, asking if it was okay for him and Rain to crash at my place. I didn't know how worse should I assume, the conversation had gone but I gathered it was bad enough for him to not be around Molly for some time. He told me she had a night shift and so he was bringing Rain along with him. I didn't know why was I feeling nervous. Did I clean my house too much? I didn't want him to think I was trying to impress Rain or anything because she was a cleanliness freak and I was no alter ego of Monica Geller. Perhaps, I was the farthest thing to that. I had spent an hour in shower and wore a light yellow tee with a striped lower. And only because I felt like looking nice and not because Wat always liked me in bright colours. Did I look too handsome? I didn't want him to think I was trying to allure him or anything.

I heard the doorbell ring and pulled myself together.

"Hi", I said, flashing a smile on Rain because looking at Sarawat right now was very much intimidating me.

"O my god! So you're the magician with an alive witch in a box?"

I raised my eyebrows, "if that's what your father said I am."

She giggled and looked up at Sarawat. He smiled although I felt it didn't reach to his eyes. I led them in and much to my relief, Rain had instantly felt comfortable in my house, running towards the piano kept in living room and hitting notes on it. I asked Wat if he was okay and he just nodded. He said he was tired and needed to take a nap before dinner. I showed him my bedroom, completely missing the fact that it wasn't the first time he was here. Going back in our history, he had probably spent more time at my place than his own.

"Umm..I have lowered the temperature so you wouldn't feel hot. But there's a blanket near the pillow in case you feel cold. Here's a bottle of water and this is uh... I don't know what this is but mom says it helps in reducing fatigue if you keep it near your bed so I'm keeping it here. I'll turn off the light and keep the door ajar to let a little light seep in. Call me if you need anything and...why are you looking at me like that?"

He pulled me near the bed and hugged my waist, burying his face against my stomach. I placed one of my hands on his shoulder while crossing other in his hair.

He was sobbing, "thank you Tine. Thank you for everything."

"Sshh..", I said lovingly, "Let's talk later, okay? Take a good rest and don't worry about Rain. I'm taking care of her. Just call me for anything. Yes?"

"Yes."

"Good boy. Now sleep. I'll wake you up for dinner."

With that I gently kissed his hair, drew the curtains in and switched off the light to darken the room. Wat couldn't sleep well in light. I shut the door lightly and went away.

I walked up to Rain who was busy, playing chords and singing her heart out. I smiled as I sat beside her and I saw that she smiled too. Inspite of being so intelligent and matured than her age, Rain still had retained that childlike innocence in herself. We played for some time before I gave her a tour of my house. We were in my study room and I was just leaning against the wall, seeing her glancing through my collection of thick novels and illustrated food magazines, miniature music scores. She took out a brown diary and before I could stop her, a photograph slid from the pages and ended up near her feet. She saw the picture and looked at me.
