Smoke cleared from the battlefield.  Armin watched mikasa walk away holding eren's severed head in her arms.  Armin bid his best friends farewell and wished that eren would now be able to rest in peace and be truly free. He turned around and went  the opposite direction headed for the commotion happening with what was left of humanity.

Armin took of his maneuver gear off to seem less of a threat,  and explained to the people who had their guns pointed at eldians that they were just people now and if they had the power of the  titans they would've  already used it to protect themselves.

Pieck then runs up to armin she was breathless and was trying to formulate words. Armin then calmed her down but pieck looked at him in panic and sorrow.

Pieck what's  wrong??? Armin held her shoulder.

Armin... It's  annie.. She's in critical condition. 

Armin could feel his heart drop,  he just lost his bestfriend.... Now annie..? Pieck,  where is she??  Armin desperately asked.

Pieck pointed on the left and told armin that annie was with  mr. Leonhardt.

Armin nodded at pieck and quickly made his way towards that direction, and he found annie lying on a pool of blood her father beside her crying and holding her hand repeatedly apologizing, annie smiled at her dad and told him she forgives him and that she's sorry she couldn't come home safe... As she promised.

Armin then knelt beside annie, as she turned her gaze towards him.  

Armin..... Annie spoke in a broken voice.

Armin could feel tears build up on his eyes again,  why did the curse of ymir have to be lifted when it's  needed?  He questioned and held Annie's  hand.

Mr. Leonhardt just stared at the two with a sad smile, he couldn't believe it... His daughter found someone? But it hurt to see them fall apart before they could even start...

Annie.... Armin stared at her and gently held her up, annie snuggled close into his chest savouring her last moments.

She still wanted to stay... And be with  her father and armin. But she guessed that was too much to ask... And maybe this is how she'll pay for everything she did.

Annie heard armin sob and he kissed her gently on the forehead. Annie... Please don't go... I'll miss you again... Armin begged.

As much as she wanted to stay annie knew her life's  slipping away.

Annie hugged him close whispering an im sorry.  Annie then took one of his hands and slipped on his ring finger her precious silver  ring.

Armin... Will you...keep this safe for me..?  She looked at his glassy tear filled eyes.

Armin nodded and held her tighter. Annie...*sob*don't go*sob* too.....

Annie took Armin's face and put it close to hers their foreheads touching. I...love...you... Annie whispered to him before pulling him in for a kiss. Sadly that was the last strength that annie had.. a few moments later her hand fell from his neck.

Armin pulled away from the kiss and hugged annie crying out in agony.

Mr. Leonhardt also cried regrets eating him up,  he went near to the young man holding his daughter he placed a comforting hand on his shoulders.

Son...Annie's resting now.... Let's  let her sleep... Afterall life was pretty tiring for her... I've been hard on her.. The world was hard on her...and she probably viewed life as miserable, so I thank you... For giving her the love i couldn't give.. Thank you for being the person  that made her life better in a short time.

Armin sadly smiled at mr. Leonhardt, I just wished.. I could've  given her all the love she deserved.. Armin then placed his forehead against  Annie's  again,  I love you more annie... Replying to Annie's  last words.

A week has passed since that battle. Armin was now staying with mr. Leonhardt since he offered  him a home. Mr.  Leonhardt  buried annie on the beach. He did that because when he asked  armin where he would've taken annie for a first date he answered the beach.  Mr.  Leonhardt figures that annie would've loved seeing the view of the ocean with  armin.

Armin then told Mr. Leonhardt that he'll move out since he has found a place near Annie's  burial site where he can live at and thanked mr. Leonhardt for all the help promising to visit every now and then.

Armin was now staying at his new home,  he went out and sat near annie. Rubbing the ring she placed on him.  Hey annie? How have you been?  Hah... This is just like when you were crystallized....except.. This time you won't ever wake up... He caressed the cold gravestone looking sadly at the horizon.

The view is nice right...? Annie.... I wish that  you'd  come back.

I've  settled just fine here at liberio... Well.. Soon I'll  be very busy... Because now I'd  have to work to ensure peace... But i promise to visit often.. just like... Before.

Armin stood up and took one last  look at Annie's  resting place, 

See you later annie...

I hope i can meet you again in another lifetime.

-3 years later-

Armin was now  on his desk tirelessly working his life off, work had distracted him from feeling the emptiness within him.

Losing his friends...eren.. Sasha... And losing annie took a big toll on him.

Now instead of drowning in endless daydreams about the ocean as a kid, he now drowns in paperwork and alcohol just to not let that creeping feeling of sorrow in his heart.

Armin felt tired.

The world he dreamed of ended up being a nightmare.

Annie didn't  know where she was everything was too bright... It was blinding, but then she saw a familliar face. Eren..?  She called out.

Eren turned  around to face her,  annie...you were supposed to live long.... But i guess... Just like with  sasha... I couldn't save you too.. He looked down.

Annie then patted him on the back trying to console him.  You didn't have to put everyone else above you..

Eren then looked back up at her,  and pointed at her hand.  Annie looked at her hand and on the finger where her ring used to be was a red string that floated in the air and seemed to have no end.

You'll  be given a second chance at life.. Annie.. Find armin at the end of that string. Eren told her as he pushed her off into the unknown.

"find him annie, this time.. Don't lose each other.. Like i did with  mikasa."
