Marcy was wiped. She was bloody and exhausted. Despite all her efforts and the nearby hospital's efforts, Theresa was gone. Lucia was unemotional.

Marcy worried about her but merely took her home. She gave her a room to sleep in and told her to get some rest.

She slepped down to her own room to take a bath and think. Mal and Ellen were waiting on her when she got out. "I'm tired."

"I don't think this is good for you." Mal let her know.

"What?"

"I don't think this is good for you." He repeated.

"I meant what isn't good for me."

"Being surrounded by death." Ellen whispered.

"People die, Red. It's what we're born to do." Marcy struggled into the bed and wrapped up in cover.

Ellen hated that she seemed to be regressing.

Mal rubbed her back. "I would like to talk."

"I would like to sleep." Marcy countered.

He realized she'd been up all day and that it was late at night. "Then can we talk in the morning?"

"No." He almost dropped dead of shock but she continued. "I'm sleeping for as long as I can then I'm going to see about Lucia."

He bobbed his head. A little girl had just lost her mother. "We can talk tomorrow night."

Marcy nodded as she turned on her side and closed her eyes.

Mal and Ellen were very worried.

M&MC

Lucia woke up from nightmares, really scared. She didn't know where she was or where her mother was. Then she remembered the night before. She almost broke down but a knock sounded at the door.

The door pushed open to reveal Marcy with a tray ladened with food. The young mom set the tray on the large bed. "I'm not sure what you like so I just made different things. Eat whatever you like. The bathroom is through this door. I'll be to see you in a few hours."

Lucia was shocked. Marcy was leaving her? Was that what she wanted? Yes. If only to think. She bobbed her head slowly.

Marcy left quietly.

Lucia drew her knees to her chest and cried.

M&MC

Marcy started when Manny clapped his hands hard. Luckily for him, he was far away. "Oh!"

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"I'm fine." She lied as she finished what she'd been doing; making a lunch for Lucia.

He didn't believe her. "Are you sure?"

"I can't help but to be." Marcy picked up the tray and went up the stairs slowly. She went to Lucia's room and saw all the food was gone so she switched trays and left.

"Mommy?" Mickey appeared on the stairs behind her mother.

"Yes?" Marcy moved slowly.

"Who's in there?"

"She will be staying with us for as long as she wants."

"She?" Mickey perked up. "Is she like Lana?"

"No, sweetie. She's quite a bit older."

Mickey's little mouth formed an "O". She let them get to the ground floor before she took the tray from her mom. "Is she my big sister like Xindi?"
