Mike's party for his birthday had been wild and fun but Marcy had to get ready for work. She only had two patients as she was still technically supposed to be on maternity leave but she didn't want her patients to die just because she made another human.

She reviewed the file again as she made her way downstairs to grab her things and a quick breakfast.

Manny was in the kitchen as she came in. "Hey?"

"Hi." She grabbed an apple and a pear before grabbing her lunch and snack.

"You're just eating an apple and pear?"

She blinked. "Uh? Yeah?"

"No." He quickly toasted a bagel and grabbed her a bottle of apple juice. He smeared cream cheese on both lightly toasted slices of the blueberry bagel then packed it away in a baggie before also giving her a snack baggie of her special trail mix. "Here."

"You're worse than Mal." She was exasperated.

"We just want you healthy."

"Why aren't you married?"

"You love me." His face cracked momentarily but he saved face quickly.

"Hmm." She'd seen the crack but really had to go. "Thank you."

"You're welcome."

She left the kitchen and went to her office. She still had school so she set everything on her desk to triple check that she had everything for it. Once done, she grabbed her duffle bag.

It was filled with dance gear because she was auditioning for a specific show next week and wanted to get in practice.

She put the duffle bag on her shoulder along with her school bag, her "creative bag", her work bag (that she slipped the file back into), a tote (which she filled with her breakfast), her handbag and her computer bag and picked up her heels and bottle of water.

She lugged everything to the big garage then balanced precariously to slip into the black pumps. They matched her black pinstripe fitted suit. She went into the garage and went to her Bugatti to set everything but her water-bottle in the passenger's seat neatly.

She grabbed her black leather jacket from the hook near the door then shut it so she could get into her car. She pulled the jacket on then got in. She pulled her phone from her suit jacket and paired it with the sound system before choosing a Paramore album to listen to.

She adjusted her mirrors, checked her makeup, put on her sunglasses and put on her seatbelt before pulling out of the warmish cavern.

She went around the motorcourt and down the drive to exit onto the street, knowing Diaz was right behind her (she'd half been stalling to allow him to catch up).

She drove down the street and sang along with Hayley Williams, finally feeling like herself. Villas turned to apartments, businesses and urban life. Trees gave way to concrete.

She drove the scenic route, having missed driving. She'd been a road warrior since she learned how to drive and it'd taken a backseat to her healing because it was hard to drive in a house but although she wasn't fixed, she was mending and fully intended to get back behind the wheel.

Finally she came upon her hospital and she parked in the employee/staff carpark. Diaz pulled up beside her.

She got out and grabbed her things, getting her badge out at the same time. He escorted her into the building and to her office (that she shared with another more senior doctor).

She set her things down and opened the blinds as she was there first. She grabbed her lab-coat and put it on before attaching her badge and issued cell phone.
