As they pulled up to their new house-apartment, Natalie and Bailey were extremely excited that they had finally graduated high school and were going to live together, away from their parents. The two best friends got out of the car, and Bailey pulled out her phone.
"Okay, wait," Natalie said, holding her hand out. "We have to take a quick picture, I mean we're about to see our very first apartment."
"Yes! Okie, what filter?" Bailey asked enthusiastically. Bailey scrolled through her phone and Natalie pointed out a good filter. They posed, took the photo, and Bailey immediately sent it to her boyfriend and posted it on social media while Natalie took the bags out of the back of her truck.
"Dan keeps sending me all these videos and photos, they're hilarious," Bailey informed Natalie. Natalie tried to peak at her phone and asked, "Can I see them?"
"No! They're not for you!" Bailey giggled and swiped on her phone. Natalie shrugged and fit the key into the door of their new home.
The girls stepped foot in their apartment and looked around in awe. "I can't believe all this furniture is finally in our apartment," Bailey said.
"I know, I was beginning to think the designer was going to take years," Natalie commented.
Bailey smiled. "It's gonna be fun living together. I mean, sure we may fight, we've got our differences; I'm always texting, you're always drawing, I'm super hot, you're.." She scanned Natalie. ".. alright." Natalie glared at her. "I'm joking," she said, "I also have a better sense of humour apparently."
"Whatever, let's just go see the bedrooms," Natalie replied. Bailey agreed and they started up the stairs.
"We still have quite a bit to do, though," Natalie started. Bailey frowned and said, "What do you mean? The furniture's all placed. All we've got now is to unpack and organize." "Yeah, and buy kitchen utensils, food, and other things like that," Natalie added.
"We do?!" Bailey looked up from her phone in shock.
"Yeah, living on our own means living with a lot more responsibilities."
"Can't we just hire a maid or butler or something?"
Natalie gave Bailey a look. "Sure, when you have the hundred dollars to pay for them each month, you go right ahead," she said sarcastically. Bailey rolled her eyes and said, "Okay, whatever. Come on, lets go see the bedrooms."
As they entered the bedroom, they both gasped with excitement. Everything in the room matched the light yellow walls and vine themed furniture, and the room included a double bed as well as a TV. "Wow," Natalie started, "The designer really outdid himself in here!"
"Yeah he did," Bailey said, sounding a little less enthused. "I call this room!"
"You can't just call a room, it's a one-bedroom apartment, remember?"
"Oh whatever, you can sleep on the couch downstairs," Bailey said, continuing to text away on her phone. Natalie put her hand on her hip and said, "Uh, no. Definitely not. I guess we can figure out a schedule or something, like.. One of us could have one week up here, the other on the couch and then we swap."
Bailey looked up from her phone. "Uh, you expect me to sleep on a creaky old couch for a solid week?"
"Fine, we can do like five days and swap or something," Natalie negotiated. Bailey rolled her eyes, and began, "Yeah, like you think I'm gonna-" she was interrupted by a text message. "Oh, Dan just texted me asking how the apartments coming along."
"I guess you're gonna tell him it's done, huh?"
"Duh," Bailey said as she began typing. Natalie shook her head and said, "Well, I'm gonna start unpacking."
