Mary hasn't been herself lately. Matt and Henry noticed it too. She refused to take her shirt off when we passed a lake. She didn't even get in the water. I was starting to suspect something was up. We were nearing the farm. Crops were everywhere. The only thing we were careful of was if a zombie came out. I looked up at the sky. We had just made it. The sun wasn't setting yet but it would soon. We walked around the crops and found a small fence. It was covered in dry dark red blood. I winced and wondered what may have happened. I kicked open the gate and Matt shook his head.
"You couldn't just open it?" Henry asked.
I stuck my tongue out and walked past the now broken gate. I hoped that no one lived here. I didn't want them to be pissed off at me for breaking their gate. The hay and broken branches crunched under my feet. I looked around. I didn't hear any animals. Normally an all organic farm had animals. Mac walked behind me and grabbed my hand. I wasn't really planning on making friends, especially with a kid. I wanted to pull away my hand but he smiled at me so I let him get away with it. I looked up at a big barn. The doors were opened and no animals were inside. The little rooms where the cows should have been were empty. I wonder where they were....
"Hey, let's crash in here. I think they have some hay up there." Matt said, walking backwards into the barn.
BANG!
I looked at Matt as he fell. A little girl with a shovel stood behind him. She had red hair and big pink bow in her hair.
"Take that you dead walker!" She said in a tiny voice.
I felt my heart melt because of her adorableness. I shook my head and looked at Matt. He was passed out.
"Beth! He's a human! Is he okay?" A girl with blond hair and freckles asked.
"Well she just knocked out my friend. She's a good hitter." I said.
"Why are you here? We don't have anything so please don't hurt us." The big girl said.
"We aren't here for that. Our shelter got raided with those dead things so we came to see if we could crash here." I said.
"Crash?" Beth said.
"I don't know. You're going to have to ask my older brother, Charlie." The girl said.
"What's you name?" I asked.
"I'm Sarah. This is Beth." Sarah said.
"I'm Katie. The guy on the floor is Matt. This is Henry, Mary, Harold, Brad, Gwen, Mac, and Amy." I said.
"Where are you're parents?" Mary asked.
"They got bitten. We had to put them down." A boy, I think Charlie, said.
"Charlie, these are our new guests." Sarah said.
Ha! I got it right. Charlie wasn't bad. He had blond hair and green eyes. His skin was a kind of peach color. Not bad. I guess it was obvious that I was checking him out. Mary whacked me gently and I snapped back into focus. Charlie smiled and put his hands into his pockets.
"Welcome to our farm." He said.

"Wow! you guys made all this?" Matt asked.
He had finally regained consciousness after about thirty minutes of being knocked out. We were all sitting around the table, looking at the big apple pie.
"We made it from starch!" Beth said.
"Scratch." Sarah said, giggling.
"Yeah. Scratch. That's what I said."Beth said.
I laughed and shook my head. Mary was sitting next to Henry and kissing his cheek. I felt a bit jealous but didn't want to show it. I looked at Charlie and he smiled. He cut the pie into big pieces and I breathed in the heavenly scent. We all sighed at the same time and laughed.
"Do you guys not get a lot of walkers out here?" I asked, putting my fork into my piece of pie.
"Rarely. When we heard the gate, we thought that a bunch of walkers had broken it down, knowing that they are stupid and all." Sarah said.
I bit into the fork and blushed. Henry, Mary, and Matt laughed. I chewed my pie slowly and smiled.
"Well, not all of them are dumb." I said, rambling.
"Yes they are. Anyone in their right mind would have just opened it like a normal person." Charlie said.
I felt my pride go down as everyone laughed. Amy was giggling loudly and trying to snort.
I got up and looked away. Charlie, Sarah and Beth began to laugh as they figured out why I was mad.
"You mean....YOU broke it?" Sarah asked.
"Hey! It wasn't that dumb. I guess I wasn't thinking!" I said, not understanding why it was funny.
They all apologized to me and began to eat again.  I sat down and bit into my pie. I made eye contact with Henry and we both looked away. It had gotten weird between us again. After dinner, we were all taken back to the barn. Beth and Charlie helped us into the loft of hay up over the cow stables while Sarah closed the barn doors a bit. If a walker came by, we would be safe and be able to escape without it knowing. Charlie had a gun and Beth had her shovel. The hay was itchy but it was soft and I didn't want to sleep outside. I rolled over and bumped noses with Matt.
"Sorry." I said.
"No problem. It's a bit crowded for a small place." He said, moving away a bit.
Henry had Mary in his arms. Harold was taking up a lot of space with his arms and legs stretched out. I guess the group was getting too big.
"Good night." Matt said and closed his eyes.
"Night." I said and closed my eyes.
