The sun shone directly into my eyes. I sat up straight and became blind for a moment. I rubbed my eyes and looked around. Beth, Sarah, and Charlie weren't anywhere in sight. I shook Henry awake and Mary groaned when he let her go. Matt was sound asleep and was drooling a bit. I giggled and looked away. Henry stretched and helped me down. I sighed and stretched, plucking hay out of my hair. Henry smiled and looked around. There was blood on the floor. I could hear Harold snoring loudly and I shook my head. Amy was near the edge and she was about to roll over.
"Amy! Roll away!" I shouted.
She looked down and screamed. She rolled back and I could hear Mac laugh.
"Let's do some farm work." Henry said in a country accent.
I laughed and playfully hit him. He grinned and walked out of the barn. I quickly followed as the rest of the group awoke. I looked up at the big apple tree and smiled. In book,s they were often bright red. This tree looked like it came out of the book. I tried to pick and apple but I was to short.
"Too small?" Henry teased.
"Shut up. Give me a boost." I said.
"Steroids?" Henry asked.
"No, I mean a boost. You know, help me get the fruit." I said.
Henry blushed and began to stutter.
"Yeah. That's what I meant." He said, clearing his throat.
I chuckled and hugged the tree as Henry gave me a lift. I still couldn't reach the fruit.
"We're too short." Henry said.
"Yeah, I realized that." I said, trying not to fall.
Henry laughed and began to run as I stood on his shoulders.
"Henry! Stop!" I shouted.
He laughed and I fell, dragging him down with me. I let out a groan as my body collided with hard soil. Henry was laughing too hard.
"Let's do it again." He said.
"No!" I said, getting up.
He smiled at me and pulled me back down. I looked up at the blue sky and for a moment, it felt like it used to. When there were no dead people walking around, when people weren't judging us, when we used to date. I stared at the clouds and I felt my face soften.
"Like old times...." Henry said, grabbing my hand.
I felt an electric shock ringing through my body. I looked at Henry and I wanted to kiss him so badly. I sighed and closed my eyes. I could feel him getting closer to me. I opened my eyes a bit and saw him leaning closer. My heart pounded as his lips were almost near mine.
"Henry! Where are you?" Mary asked.
We both pulled away and I sighed as he walked off. I looked at them as he smiled and Mary hugged him. I wanted to yell in anger. So close! I got up and leaned against the tree. Mary had to ruin everything, just like before.

"What do you mean leave?" Sarah said.
"The farm isn't as safe as it used to be." Charlie said.
"It'll only be for a little while. We can come back when everything goes back to normal." Amy said.
"What if nothing goes back to normal? Then what?" Sarah asked.
We all stood quiet. Sarah was sitting down and I could tell she didn't want to cooperate with us. We wanted to leave the farm but she didn't want to. I didn't want to butt in or anything but she wasn't being reasonable.
"Look, I know how much this farm means to you. It's wrong of us to ask you to part with it and I know it's hard, but listen to me okay? Zombies will walk a far distance and are attracted to sound. Please understand what will happen if you can't get out in time." I said, putting my hand on her knee.
Sarah's eyes looked empty. I felt nervous just looking at her. She sighed and squeezed her eyes shut. She opened her mouth to say something but-
CRASH!
We all jumped.  I looked at Charlie and he turned pale. Sarah looked at us.
"What was that?" Beth asked.
I gulped and stared at the door. The sound of feet getting dragged came closer to us.
"I think....the zombies just broke through the fence." I said.
"Oh dear god." Sarah said, covering her face with her hands.
Beth grabbed her shovel and stood tall. I couldn't help but smile a bit. Charlie grabbed his hatchet and looked at us.
"Sarah, what's it going to be?" Charlie asked.
"Let's go." She said, getting up.
I nodded and looked at Matt. He handed me the bloody baseball bat and I took a deep breath. I carefully opened the door and saw it. The zombie was walking towards us. Before I knew it, Harold, Amy, and the rest of his group had run out.
"Where are you going?"I asked.
"It was nice hanging with you guys. We need to help ourselves now so you're on your own." Amy said, and ran after her group.
I stood there and looked at Henry. They had just ditched us. We had helped them escape and they left us? Why? The smell of smoke hit my nose and I looked at farm.
"No! Not the farm!" Sarah shouted and ran.
"Sarah, no! It's gone so don't!" Charlie said and pulled her back.
"You don't understand.....You never did. Go burn in hell!" Sarah shouted and kicked him.
She ran towards the burning farm as Charlie lay on the ground in pain. I tried to pick Charlie up but Sarah's scream made me looked up. A zombie had grabbed her and was dragging her. I ran with my bat but didn't make it in time. A piece of burning wood fell off the barn and trapped Sarah with the zombie. Her screams were loud and horrible. Beth was by my side and her eyes were wide. I picked her up and ran. Henry, Matt and Mary were helping Charlie.
"We won't make it out in time." Charlie said, standing up on his own.
I looked around. He was right. Unless we had a car, we don't stand a chance. My eyes fell on a tractor and a big cart. It had bars to hold us in and hay was spread around in it.
"Charlie, do you know how to drive a tractor?" I asked.
"Yeah, it's not that hard. Why?" He asked.
"I don't know about you guys, but I'm in the mood for a little hay ride." I said, grinning.
