Chapter 14: Honoris Damus

It’s been a week since the last time that Mia have talked with Euiwhanne, they both made a mistake. Mia felt last year that even if they’re classmates they feel so far with each other, she doesn’t want to act anymore that everything’s alright between the two of them.

It’s killing her honestly and it seems like Euiwhanne's having fun with her other friends that she don’t need Mia anymore. Mia got hurt again, she wishes she could teach Mia how to be insensitive just like her.

Smiling and her grades are high What am I suppose to do? Mia said inside of her mind, Kevin answered her question and whispered Do everything that your heart desires, it’s killing you to take her back but I know that both of you need each other.

She doesn’t need me Mia retorted in her mind and flinched as Euiwhanne and her friends went inside of the classroom. Of course she does, she needs you because you know her better than her other friends.

But...

“What are you scared of Mia, are you scared of admitting your mistake?” he added. Mia look at him giving her that smile, she nodded.

He’s one of the persons that knows her, he never let her down and he’s a good influence on her. He sit near the window and relaxed there, he looked outside of the window “I remember the times we ran together when we were younger and I also made a mistake”.

Mia looked at him what do you mean, all of us make mistakes. He shook his head “I wish I could have told you that I love you the moment that I knew that you like me”.

Those words hit her soft spot but look on the bright side you took my hand and made me feel complete before, you never said that I can’t do anything. Even if you know that I had a boyfriend you stood by me like a big brother actually.

Euiwhanne looked at Mia with the softest kind of look and came to her and apologized one more time again. “You look happy with them.” Mia said and didn’t look at her.

Mia looks in her eyes and waited for her answer “I am happy with them but it feels different if I’m not with you, I need you and I’m sorry.” She said sincerely and holds Mia's hand.

Mia hugged her after she hears those words from her and closed her eyes, it’s like she found one of her long lost sister. “I needed you too, don’t try to wander again okay?” Mia joked as tears fell on both of their eyes.

She cracked a smile and wiped her tears “It looks like we’re crazy” Euiwhanne added. Mia fixed her hair “I know right”.

“Adings who are exemplary go near the principal’s office by year level.” A manang announced. They stood up together and hugged again “congratulations” Euiwhanne said, this is the first time that  Mia will be going up the stage as an exemplary student.

“You too, I’m proud of you.” Mia retorted. Euiwhanne never failed in any subject even if she’s new, we are the ones who come near her most of the times.

The non-awardees will go home already, it’s already one o’clock. She started fixing her hair and looked at her mirror to see if I looked like she cried.

Luckily, she doesn’t look like. They arranged ourselves by year level and by their last names, she is  going to sit beside Euiwhanne and DANIEL.

They started entering the gym, Daniel is at her back “what are you doing here and where’s Justin?” Mia asked sharply. “He’s in Bulgaria, it’s his turn to look after the idiots”.

“He should be in front of me if he’s here.” Daniel said. Mia tilted her head “you don’t need to attend, you told me that all of this is just stupid”.

Mia sit down and leaned on Euiwhanne’s shoulder, they were sitting in the middle left side of the crowd. Parents are starting to be on the side of their child, Mia look at the parent’s section and see her  mom waving her hand.

Mia smiled at her and took a deep breath, the program started with the receiving of awards by the good performance students, they were just small like only ten per year level out of one hundred.

But the exemplary section is lesser; it’s like three persons per year level. Her line stood up and they started forming a line, her mom went beside her and said “I’m proud for the both of you, you’re both exemplary.” Her mom said and hug her before stepping up the stage with a smile and great relief in her face and heart.
