Based upon the Journey's anime, with an older cast of Ash, Goh, Chloe including Isaiah, an OC with a lot of social problems and isn't fond of people and Pokemon, fated for bigger things than he realized when problems from his past come to haunt him...
Isaiah patiently waited in the Pokemon Center in the forest before reaching the wasteland that was the Grampa Canyon.
He had battles along the way from the airport and he may have lost some battles but he won more of them but those wins were against much younger and inexperience trainers, every battle though brought him more experience and meeting Brock in a Pokemon Center nearby where they are supposed to meet was perfect.
The guy who beat him crushed him.
He really rang alarming bells because he stood out from the rest.

He was currently writing down on a notebook on potential strategies with his team while Zorua was on his head, watching him write and draw on the side.
''Excuse me.'' Isaiah took his eyes off his notebook to meet with the Nurse Joy who handed him his Poke-Balls.
''You're Pokemon are in full health right now.''
''Thanks, quick question. There is supposed to be a guy named Brock, a former Gym Leader coming, has he stopped by?'' This left Nurse Joy smiling more.
''Why of course. He just finished his work in the back.'' She explained, surprising Isaiah as a dark tanned man appeared in full gear.

''Oh Brock. Thank you for all your help. I really appreciated it.'' Nurse Joy thanked which Brock proceeded to grab her hand with the background suddenly changing.
