Yawning, Percy stretched out his limbs. Sunlight streamed into his room from his window. He rubbed the crusties out of his eyes and breathed out his nose. He looked at his clock: 9:00. Annabeth was coming at 10.
Percy smiled. Just thinking about Annabeth made his heart flutter. She was really busy prepping for college and New Rome and other boring things, so this would be his first time seeing her in 7 months. Luckily, she had some free time over winter break, so she was going to pop by Manhattan for a couple of days.
Percy got up and walked the hall to his favorite room in his apartment: the kitchen. "Morning mom!" he called, grabbing some blue cereal from a cupboard.
"Morning Percy!" Her study glasses on, Sally was reading some book about writing. Percy turned his head to the side to read the spine.
"Common Grammatical Mistakes and How to Avoid Them?"
Sally blushed. "It's my reading assignment for school, but it's really long. I'm not sure how I'm going to finish in time to pick up the groceries because we're running low since I didn't make a trip in a while and I have to pick up a cardigan from the laundromat-"
Percy cut her off. "Mom if you're that busy, you should've just asked! I can go pick up the cardigan."
Sally smiled. "You sure?"
"I'm sure." Percy gulped down the remnants of his cereal and grabbed his keys. Well, they weren't his keys-they were Paul's. But same thing. He kissed his mom on the cheek and rushed out the door.
Like almost every teen, Percy loved driving. There was something about rushing with the wind, leaving everything behind you. He felt like he was in control. With losing his memory and falling into Tartarus and all the prophecies, it was really hard to feel in control when the gods were deciding your fate. But with driving, he had full control.
Before he knew it, he arrived at the laundromat place, Larry's Laundry. As he was waiting for Larry to get the cardigan, he looked at his watch. 9:15. 45 minutes until Annabeth comes.
After he got back to the apartment with the cardigan, Percy plopped on his bed and looked at the time. 9:30. 30 more minutes until Annabeth comes. A pleasant tingle went up to his spine. He wanted to see her so badly. Sure they IM'd almost every day, but it wasn't the same as seeing her in person, hugging her, drinking in her intoxicating strawberry scent...feeling her against his chest...her arms wrapped around his neck...their hips pressed together...
Percy blushed. Did I really just think that? He shook his head to clear his mind and looked at the clock. 9:35. 25 minutes...
RI-I-I-NG!
Percy jolted awake. Was that the doorbell?! He bolted out of his room into the hall. His mom was already going to the door, but Percy beat her to it. Fumbling with the lock, he swung the door open and sure enough, there was his beautiful girlfriend.
"Missed me?" Annabeth's gray eyes sparkled.
Percy scooped her into his arms and twirled her around. "More than you know," he whispered in her ear. He smelled her delicious strawberry perfume, her body pressed against his, her face in the crook of his neck...he wanted to stay like that forever, but his mom was watching. Annabeth pulled away, and he got to study her properly.
Her princess curls grew longer-they were past her shoulders now. Her gray eyes shone in the sun. Her lips were a subtle red from her chapstick...Percy had a sudden desire to find out what flavor it was. Her shirt clung to her in certain places and flowed loosely in others. Percy's mouth felt dry. She looked insanely attractive. His insides suddenly felt very very warm.
"Hey Sally!" Annabeth grinned, running into her arms. Sally was like the mother Annabeth never had.
"Honey, I missed you so much!" Sally squeezed her, holding Annabeth to her chest.
When they parted, she and Percy walked down the familiar hall to his room.
"Make yourself comfortable." Percy plopped on his bed and patted the spot next to him.
Annabeth smiled back and sat next to him. Her insides suddenly felt tingly. It was so stupid-she'd sat on his bed many times before. But for some reason, this time got her heart racing. It didn't help that he'd gotten crazy handsome these last few months. His raven hair was messy on his head, but it suited him. His muscles were more defined-his shirts clung tighter to him. This was so confusing. She'd always thought he was cute and all, but now...it was like she was noticing things more. Noticing how his voice was slightly lower. Noticing he was slightly taller now. Noticing how handsome he was. Noticing how his arms felt wrapped around her...
And they were kissing. It started slow and soft, but Annabeth missed him too much for it to stay like that. She sucked on his warm lips until Percy parted them. Percy ran his tongue along her lips, and his heart started racing. Strawberry. Her chapstick flavor was strawberry. He moved his hands to her hips and began tracing her sides. Annabeth's mind clouded with desire. She knew it wasn't rational, but she wanted more. She wanted his hands to go higher and him to come closer. She pulled herself into him, and he got the message.
Percy pushed her down onto the bed and hovered over her, eyes flooded with lust. He bent down and trailed kisses all over the column of her neck. Annabeth arched herself into him. "Percy..."
Percy gulped. The way she said his name ignited a fire within him. He sucked on her neck, no doubt leaving a hickey. Annabeth turned him over and straddled him. She kissed his jaw, collarbone, neck...Percy's heart nearly leaped out of his chest.
They kissed a bit more, then cuddled for a while. Annabeth snuggled into his side and looked up at his green eyes.
Despite not feeling in control of his life, despite the prophecies, Tartarus, and losing his memory, as Percy looked into Annabeth's eyes, he felt like the luckiest person in the world.
