the duel

Dream beckoned for one of his companions, who were milling about a good way away. "COME HERE GEORGE!" He shouted through the wind, which tried to carry his voice over the cliff edge.

A man with dark hair and a very large pair of goggles that covered a lot of his face came jogging over. Dream shielded his eyes from the glaring afternoon sun as he walked towards George.

They were now out of earshot of Technoblde and Tommy; the latter of whom moved to position himself in front of his older brother who casted his gaze up at the sky so he couldn't see Tommy.

Tommy crossed his arms, stood up on his toes and stared right at him.

"Well?"

"What?"

"Come on Techno, what was that?"

"Mild amounts of peer pressure?"

"That barely counts as peer pressure, but anyways, what are you going to do?" Tommy asked, a worried tone in his voice.

"Duel him until he surrenders, or dies... I guess..."

"That doesn't sound too great..."

"It is not. I can't kill him, Father would not be happy about that, nor would anybody else."

"What if he's good, you know, at fighting?" Tommy nervously glanced over to them, and spotted that they seemed to having much the same conversation.

"Let's just hope he surrenders."

"Alright... I trust you. Do Father proud."

Techno offered a brotherly and reassuring smile.

Technoblade turned around and looked towards Dream, dropping his smile and focusing purely on him, he seemed to notice as they both nodded. After one last glance at his younger brother, at his which eyes sparkled from the sun, no  and began to walk towards Dream. The slightly too long grass crumbled like dust under their boots, the heavy footsteps disturbing the peace of the underground as they drew ever closer to each other.

To Technoblade, the world around him became simply a blur, if he even noticed it at all that is; his eyes were locked on the green-cloaked man in front of him, analysing every detail. An axe was held at his hip and a large shield on his back.

' Using an axe? That's unconventional, he's slower but he hits harder...Let's try to avoid that. '

Before Techno had even realised it, they were preparing to start the duel. Tommy and George stood a short distance away, with an even shorter distance between himself and Dream.

"En garde."

He focused completely on the man in front of him, he now held his axe outwards, beckoning Techno closer. The hilt of the axe was ornately carved with something, not that Techno could make it out. And the blade itself seemed to glow a peculiar purple he had never witnessed before, only ever hearing about it through tales of long forgotten adventurers or forbidden books of old.

"Allez!"

For a split second only the soft rustling of the long grass in the wind could be heard, then the pounding of footsteps, and clashing of blades.

They rushed forwards; Dream's axe was swung broadly, aiming for Techno's side, but he intercepted it before it could strike him. He knew even with his armour one hefty blow would take him out no problem. The blades scraped past each other. Techno darted around Dream while he seemed to still be bringing his axe back up from the swing. Little did Techno know, but Dream took this time to reach for the shield strapped to his back.

Techno made his first attack. His blade sliced cleanly through the air but struck solid wood, the brunt of the blow was absorbed by the shield. Dream grunted and dug his heels into the soil, with the recoil from the attack resonating through the blade and the Blade like an earthquake shudders through the ground.

They both came grinding to a halt and looked at each other, slight grimaces painted their faces. The moment of respite was quickly over however, they sprung backwards and started all over again, now into their stride and making swifter motions.

One would seem to gain the upper hand, only to be thwarted by the quick manoeuvrability of the other, and counter-attacks that come almost inhumanly fast. Any hits either made were impossible to see to any onlooker, except for the fact the fighting was beginning to slow.

Technoblade tried to blink away the tears forming in his eyes: they stung from the wind and from the pain due to the wound he was clutching on his upper arm.  He raised his sword slowly, ready to go again, despite the weight of it seeming to be slowly growing; he was breathing heavily and any other day he would call off the training and have a rest. This was not training however.

He looked up from staring at his sword and gazed instead at the man just a few feet from him, he grabbed at a wound in his side Techno couldn't even recall inflicting through all the fighting. He appeared just as tired as Techno, if not more so.

Though, just because they were tired, the duel was not over.

Little did they know, however, two figures who had kept their distance thus far, had decided they had seen enough.

Tommy and George started running. Tommy had a pained expression, the sight of his brother wasn't a pretty one, and Tommy didn't want to see it any worse. They soon reached them and Tommy stood tall in front of Techno, putting his hand on his brother's shoulder.

"Come on, that's enough, you've proved your worth."

"N-no..." He winced and brushed Tommy's hand away. "He hasn't surrendered."

"I don't care. George wants this to be over too, and with no one to officiate, this duel can't take place." Tommy stated stiffly, he couldn't exactly tell his older brother what to do, but he was going to try his best to anyways.

"Fine." He said between deep breaths and coughs. "I truce if he truces."

Tommy offered a small smile and turned around to George who held a similar expression.

"That's it then? He truces?" George asked.

"Yes. Thank God."

They shook hands and it was done.

"It's been nice meeting you Prince Tommy, no matter what happens between our nations, I hope you grow up to be a fine leader." George said before turning around, not allowing Tommy a chance to speak and went back to Dream.

Tommy reached out his hand but he was gone. "Geo-"
