Chapter 4
Dandelion-
I aced the biology test. Crystal got a B thanks to me, and she was currently holding me captive in a bone-crushing hug in the middle of the hallway.
"Can't... breathe!" I wheezed out.
Crystal was never known for being gentle. At all.
"Sorry" She muttered apologetically. "But thank you, Lion! That test makes up a quarter of our semester!"
I flashed her a small, exasperated smile. She never did know how to manage her study times.
We carried on walking down the hallway to the cafeteria. It was lunchtime.
Suddenly, I felt a headache settling itself in my head.
I almost never got headaches. I decided to ignore its throbbing and went on with my day.
But by the second period after lunch, the throbbing became harder and harder to ignore.
Crystal noticed and placed her hand on my shoulder.
"You okay? You look really pale." She said, a concerned expression clouding over her face.
I stiffly nodded while pressing my temples, which did little to reduce the pressure.
"What's going on there?" The teacher, Mrs. Harris asked.
Before I could reply, Crystal said "Dandelion isn't feeling well. She has a bad headache." I was about to protest when Crystal hissed, "do NOT say you're fine. You look like crap right now, so nobody will believe you." My words died in my throat. Ouch. I look like crap?
I finally nodded weakly.
Mrs. Harris looked concerned. She knew I was never one to skip class, so she believed us.
"Ms. Thomson, why don't you take Ms. Johnson to the infirmary."
Ms. Thomson was Crystal and Ms. Johnson was obviously me.
Crystal nodded, eager to skip class, and I sighed, defeated. But the pain was still pounding against my skull.
I stayed in the infirmary all day, with Crystal laying on the small bed with me. She had insisted to the nurse that I 'needed my best friend through this painful moment'. I had snorted at her cheesy bullshitting skills, which resulted in an elbow to the ribs from Crystal.
So here we were, chatting about the most random of things, chilling out like the best friends we were. Except that we were doing that in a school infirmary.
Then Crystal said "hey, I know I need to be here for you and all..." I gave her a pointed look. But she ignored it and continued anyway. "But I really need to pee!" She squeaked out before running off.
Great.
Nate-
I got a total of 3 detention slips. Well, not like I attend any of them anyway.
2 of them were for dissing teachers off, and the other one was for making 'sexual remarks' to a female teacher.
What? I was just complimenting her ass! What was so wrong with that?
As for the other 2... well, it was worth it to see the teacher's faces! Ha! Mr. Roberts face was so red that- wait...
Whoa! Hottie alert! Dammit! Why wasn't Lucas here? Argh, whatever.
This girl was a brunnete, tanned skinned, and considered quite short for a 16 year-old. But she had curves in all the right areas. Her hair was an inch or two above her shoulders, and her brown eyes showed that she wasn't someone you would want to mess with.
I put on my 'smoldering smirk' and strolled confidently towards her.
"Hey, beautiful." I said in my signature 'smoldering, husky, sexy' voice, face and once I was close enough beside her. She jumped up in fright, obviously not expecting anyone around the hallway during classes.
She placed a hand over her chest and took a few deep breaths, muttering something about 'karma being a bitch'.
Then she whipped her head to face me and rudely asked "what do you want?"
Ooh, fiesty. I like her already.
Crystal-
"Hey beautiful" a voice which sounded almost like a poor guy having a bad sore throat said.
I jumped. I did NOT see him coming.
I placed a hand over my chest and took a few deep breaths to slow my racing heart down. "Karma's a freaking bitch" I muttered under my breath, thinking of how I scared Dandelion this morning.
I whipped my head to him and rudely snapped "what do you want?"
His left eye was twitching. He was putting way too much effort into making some kind of epic expression...
"What's your name, babe?" He asked in the same sore-throated voice.
"Oh, hi! My name is 'diss off, asshole'!" I shot back. He appeared taken aback. Then came a smirk. "Oh, I like you already."
I scoffed. I started walking away when I felt a hand grab my upper arm. I grabbed that arm and twisted it before I kneed him in the groin.
I heard a pained grunt while I spun on my heels, military-style, and sauntered off.
"You bitch!" The guy's strangled voice echoed throughout the hallway. I winced. I was sure I didn't hit him that hard...
