It was a Saturday morning when Jack got up sluggishly from the bed. He yawned as he stretched to grab the towel that laid on his desktop table. Jake groaned seeing most of his clothes on the floor. His room was a total mess. After picking up his clothes from the floor, Jake immediately went to have his bath.Every Saturday in the Wilton's house was like every other Saturday. Jake would always wake up by the sound of his mother yelling at Hailee, his younger sister for doing something troublesome or his father shouting over the phone. Any noise would wake him up. This morning was different, the house was silent like no one was in it, in fact Jake woke up at his own will.
As Jake slowly walked down the stairs he smiled to himself knowing that his father had travelled and maybe Hailee was still asleep. His smile faded off when he heard his mother nagging over the phone. Immediately she sighted him, she reduced the tune of her voice.
"...You can always go with Jake" she said
Go where? He asked himself as he relaxed on the dinning chair.
"Okay, it’s okay" his mother said an immediately hung up " Morning honey, did you sleep well?"
" so where am I going?" Jake asked ignoring her question and grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl and gave a bite.
His mother smiled and came closer to him, " well..."she said and sat beside him, " There is good news and bad news"
Jake frowned. Not again, he thought. That was what his mother, Maria said to him when she finally told him his grandfather was dead. And the good news?... Well that was the good news.
" I don't wanna hear it" he said looking away
" it’s not so bad this time. I mean you have to hear it"
" what happened this time? "
Maria couldn’t hold back her smile. " Your dad called, he said he has found someone who is going to buy the house. Grandad's house"" You've got to be kidding me!" Jake exclaimed " can’t you wait till after the funeral?"
" What are we waiting for?"
Jake shook his head " You will never understand. If only you knew him so well, you will respect him dead or alive"
" There is nothing to respect about him. Your grandfather was mentally sick...and hey! I didn’t bring up the idea"
" Let’s face it mum"
" I've faced it! you don't want to face it. You are not him Jake. Let him go" she begged " I know he used to be very important in your life. I know how it feels to lose someone like that. It’s difficult...but i bet grand dad would be happier if you are happy. Isn’t that right? "
"Yeah" said Jake
" That's good" Maria said smiling " Now let’s go clean up the house, your father said that there is a lot of things you'll like to bring back home"
Jake nodded his head.
" I'll be back. Let me drop off Hailee at Mrs. Jero's place " his mother said and went upstairs. As Maria and her son drove off, Jake thought about his grandfather. Cameron Jack Grey, who was born in Edmonton town. At the age of twelve he left school and attended several academies. He went to Doplin College in the city where he barely managed to a living. He graduated from college, after the death of his father he went back to Edmonton to his mother.
He was a tutor at one time, but lost his position as a result of a quarrel. He decided to emigrate to America but he missed his ship. Later on he decided to improve in his work of art. He turned his hand to every sort of work, translation, the writing of superficial histories, children's books, and general articles.
