-Author<3Sun glittered into the room in the early hours of dawn, shining right on Shoyo's sleeping face mere minutes before his mom would awaken him.
————————————————————————Shoyo's mom was always up at the crack of dawn, even on the more challenging days. With Shoyo's dad leaving his mom, she has had to work harder to feed her two kids, let alone save the house. She knew she didn't need the guy, and she was starting to forget his face, voice, everything. It made her feel unhappy, she truly had loved him, but she knew he would never show up at the door ready to help her or the kids. Remembering this, she grew happy at the empty face she can't quite remember and hopefully will forget forever.
Shoyo's mom's morning ritual was the same almost every day, starting with boosting her confidence, making coffee for herself, making breakfast for the kids, getting ready for work, leaving a sweet note, and leaving for work.
This daily event was draining, having to get up so early, but she did what she could to see them at dinner even if she was ready to fall asleep.
Finishing the letter she read,
Dear Shoyo and Natsu,
I hope you slept peacefully. Today I'm letting you sleep in as the summer break is coming to an end, but do remember that before you go to the park, you finish your chores then you can leave. Remember stranger danger, be polite, and don't let me get any phone calls. I might be later than usual from work; it's the busy season. Love you lots <3 - MomShe paused, remembering the noises she heard from coming outside and flipped the page over, and continued to write,
'P.S Shoyo, next time you sneak out for something, don't make as much noise as you did. Also, I will glue your windows shut if this happens again. You can wait for the letter. -MomGrinning a little evilly, she turned towards the bathroom to freshen up before leaving. Finally locking the door, she closed it and headed towards her car. Reading the radio clock, it read, 5:02 am.
————————————————————————Slowly coming to, Shoyo rubbed his eyes, tiny flakes of sleep coming off. He read the clock sitting on his desk. 10:33 am.
"Oh my gosh! I've overslept! Shoyo cried out.
Shoyo was naturally a morning person, plus his mom usually called him and woke him around 9:00 am. Jumping up from his bed, he winced. His ankle had become stiff and ached as he sat back down to inspect it. His eyes trailed up and down his foot. It wasn't anything major, just a sprain and slight bruise. It would heal.
Slowly getting up, he went to his door to get ready for the day. As he made his way down the hallway, he pressed his ear up to Natsu's door. Hearing the heavy snores emitting from the room, he left her be for a few more minutes. Making his way into the kitchen, he found the usual note resting on the table.
Grabbing it, he read it in his head. Sighing with content at his successful escape, until the light hit the paper enough so Shoyo could see that writing was on the other side.
He was reading this side of the paper he gulped and mentally face-palmed himself.
"How could I be so stupid. Of course, she heard me; she might as well have another pair of ears." Gesturing to his surroundings as if they would listen to his rant.
Still, in his clothes from last night, he stalked to the communal bathroom to change for the day and before Natsu got up.
Shoyo was glad he had slept in. He looked like a mess. His eye bags were more prominent, his hair stuck up in weird places, overall, he looked like he needed a good cleaning and nap. Washing his face, brushing his teeth, and combing his hair, Shoyo left the bathroom just in time to greet Natsu awake.
"Why didn't mom wake us up earlier?" Natsu yawned,
"Oh, she said that she was going to let us sleep in because summer break is ending soon," Shoyo answered,
"Oh, okay. Can you make me a piece of toast, Shoyo?" Natsu asked, headed towards the bathroom door.
"No problem Nat's." Shoyo smiled. He knew Natsu did not like the name.
————————————————————————
After the Hinata siblings had their small breakfast and list of chores, about 1 pm when they decided to search for an optimal owl on their way to the park if Shoyo had, to be honest, he was a little nervous, not just for Hogwarts, but his friends and Natsu. To his knowledge, the magic school he would be attending was like a sleeping school, he called it. Shoyo would stay there every day, even on weekends. He knew that he would come home for Christmas and summer break but staying on weekends!"Natsu, do you see any owls." Shoyo panted in the July heat,
"I saw one in a tree about 3 minutes ago." Natsu puffed as well.
"We should hurry up, though, ok."They later arrived at the park with no luck of finding an owl. All the owls seemed to have disappeared overnight.
"Shoyooo! Where are all owls?" Natsu cried out,
"How would I know Natsu? I am not an owl."Shoyo paused, considering his options which were only two. First to wait until his mom got home and ask for her help, but she would be tired when she got home. Or second, continue wandering the streets in over 90-degree weather until an owl managed to show up.
Natsu broke the silence first, " Shoyo, why don't we just go down the roads one by one, starting with Privet Drive."
Shoyo gulped a little, scared that the Dursleys would know he was snooping. Shoyo was the closest and only boy remotely near their road.
"Sure, we can go down that way."
———————————————————————
Glancing at the familiar house, as the Hinata siblings walked by, Shoyo dared a glance at the front door. Still closed, nothing changed from the early hours. This only confused Shoyo even more."Shoyo!" Natsu whispered, pointing to a fluffy creature sitting on the Dursley's window sill,
Shoyo's smile instantly grew at the snowy owl blinking curiously at him.
"Okay, Natsu, we are going to be quiet, and I'll approach it, got it," Shoyo whispered, throwing Natsu a thumbs up.
Natsu just nodded and watched as Shoyo cautiously advanced on the owl. The owl just tilted its head slightly and waited for Shoyo. Shoyo finally made it to the perch it was sitting on and slowly stuck his hand out for it to sniff him. Shoyo had never been this close to an owl before and didn't know how to approach one, so he took it carefully.
The owl sniffed his hand for a second before staring back at him again, analyzing.
Shoyo asked the owl, "Can you take this to Hogwarts?"
The owl seemed to incline its head ever so slightly. Shoyo took this as a yes.
"Okay! Can you please take this to a Minerva McGonagall?"
The owl again seemed to incline its head forward a smidge.
"Great! Oh, this is great! Oh, here you go." Shoyo burst out while fishing out the letter from his pocket.
The owl grabbed the crumpled letter in its beak before taking off into the clear sky. Shoyo's eyes trailed it until he couldn't see the white spot anymore. He practically skipped his way back to Natsu.
"I am so excited!" Shoyo yelled back to the park.
"Yea," Natsu said sadly, barely audible.
————————————————————————
The clock read 7:17 pm."So Sho, did you get the letter sent?" His mother questioned, putting down her fork,
"Oh yeah! Natsu and I were walking down Privet Drive when we saw this pretty snowy owl just sitting there. It was like it was almost waiting for our letter. And it nodded when I asked it questions like when I asked if it could take it to Hogwarts!" Shoyo yelled out, smiling from ear to ear.Shoyo's mother had the proudest face on as Shoyo continued to ramble about being a wizard and attending a great school. Natsu seemed down throughout the meal, not saying anything.
"Natsu doesn't have that face. I know you'll go to Hogwarts too, just like Shoyo, and you'll become the best witch there is!" Their mother said soothingly, seeing Natsu's facial expression.
"I know, but I'll miss Shoyo, and it's so long away, going to that school."
"Natsu, don't worry, I'll talk to you some way while I'm there, plus I'll be back for our Christmas tradition," Shoyo explained, winking at the last part.
"I guess you're right," Natsu said, smiling slightly. The Hinata siblings made their way to bed after dinner. Happier than usual.
