Chapter 10- Vending Machine Confession

You paced back and forth nervously.

"Lunch is almost over," Sunoo reminded you. "Just do it now."

"I'm still in the process of gathering up my courage. You were born with confidence. Some people weren't," You huffed.

"Shall I give you some of my energy then?" Sunoo struck a pose, two palms and arms extended in front of him as if aiming a laser beam at you.

You laughed. He was ridiculous.

"Just do it," Sunoo groaned, as your bright laughter turned into a frown again.

Thoughts spun in your head nonstop, and you felt burdened by your overthinking.

"Forget about-"

Sunoo cut you off. "I'm calling him right now."

"Hey!"

It was too late.

"Sunghoon! Y/n needs to speak to you. Her phone died so she couldn't call you."

You couldn't hear what Sunghoon was saying.

"No. I think she wants to speak to you in person."

You flushed and tried to grapple the phone away from him. Sunoo avoided your desperate grabs.

"Where are we? We are right next to the vending machines in the cafeteria."

"Stop it!" You hissed.

"Hello!" A voice hollered at you.

Sunghoon waved his arm at you from afar with a bright smile. Your eyes widened in fear and you whipped your head back to Sunoo. You looked at him, mentally begging him to save you. He glanced back at you apologetically and escaped.

"Hm? Where did Sunoo go?"

"Uh..." You looked at the ground nervously. "He needed to go take a dump."

"Ah... I see", Sunghoon said, chuckling awkwardly.

"Vending machine," You squeaked in a small voice.

"What did you say? I couldn't hear."

"I'm going to get something from the vending machine."

You pressed the button for a grape soda and fed the machine a dollar bill you had kept in your sweater pocket as spare change.

Sunghoon leaned on the machine next to you and gazed at you with his eyes. A faint smile on his lips. You shifted your eyes away from him, bending down to get your soda.

Waiting a few seconds to make sure the can wouldn't spew foam (due to its journey down the vending machine), you opened the can. You took a nervous sip.

"Did you call me here just to watch you drink soda? Is this a way of seducing me?" Sunghoon asked, smirking.

You nearly spewed soda out of your nose. Coughing, you felt large hands pat your back... that only made you cough more from how flustered you were.

"Sorry," You gasped.

Sunghoon looked at you, eyes full of laughter.

"Don't laugh at me"

You punched his shoulder, then recoiling. It felt like you were punching a brick wall.

Sunghoon grasped your hand in his and rubbed it. "Are you okay?"

Blushing, you pulled your hands away and took a deep inhale, fluttering your eyes closed. The cafeteria was already empty and you figured that it was time.

"Sunghoon I've been stalling for too long."

He felt his eyes on you, but you couldn't see his expression... you rathered focusing on the ground.

"I-I like you!"

A long stretch of silence.

 Not in ways of just being friends... I like you more than that! I like you more than I should! I d-don't know what to do..." You felt your voice trail off.

Your face had turned bright pink and you didn't dare look at him. The silence scared you and you trembled.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything."

Feeling your whole body quake, you tried to walk away, tears welling in your eyes. Suddenly, a hand pulled you back in one swift motion. You stumbled... straight into the arms of Sunghoon. You looked up at him, still in shock, tears slipping down your doe eyes. He hugged you and you froze for a second, not knowing what to do. Sunghoon tightened the hug, and your arms found their way around him, gently hugging him back.

"I love you y/n."

You felt your body go slack in his arms.

"Well, aren't you going to say it too?" Sunghoon asked, pulling away from the hug.

"I-I" You stuttered. "I-I love you!"

Sunghoon smiled endearingly, his pearly whites showing. His eyes traveled down from your gaze. Was there something on your face? Right when your fingers were traveling to your face, to wipe away any mark or stain, Sunghoon's face came closer to yours. His fingers gently held your chin. You felt his breath on yours, and the tip of his nose nearly met yours. His gaze was filled with intensity and you felt as if he was peering through the window to your soul. Overturning and inspecting every flaw and every nook that held your deepest secrets. Fluttering your eyes shut, you finally felt the gentle touch of his rosy lips. They were soft... like feathers and you felt your heartbeat quicken. It was a strange but wonderful sensation...but it seemed as if you were doing something so unnatural. Both of you drew away at the same time, furiously blushing.

The bell rang.
