Chapter 1: First Day of School
Sunoo smiled, eyes squinting in the morning sunlight.
"Good morning~!"
You couldn't help but grin back.
"Morning Sunoo!"
Suddenly, Sunoo whipped out a bottle of Binggrae strawberry milk and offered it to you. You reached for it, eyes brightening at your favorite drink, but he moved it out of your reach. Like a dog chasing its own tail, you tried to reach for the carton of pink milk that managed to escape your every attempt to claim it. Sunoo grasped the bottle and jolted his arm upward, laughing as you jumped up and down, the impact of your jump causing the pebbles and broken pieces of concrete to skitter on the path walk. It wasn't fair that you stood at the height of 5'5" and that Sunoo was 5'9'', with long lanky arms and perfect proportions. Grunting, you gave up, quickening your pace as you walked down the path, black silvery hair swinging side to side like a pendulum.
"Here you go," Sunoo teased, waving the pink bottle in front of your nose in a tantalizing way.
You snatched it.
"Wait where's the straw?"
Sunoo held up the yellow straw.
The whole walk to school continued like this. Endless chasing and laughter of two closely knitted friends.
The large buildings of your new campus scared you. Glancing nervously around, you looked to Sunoo for reassurance. He gazed, awed at the immense size of looming buildings and the ocean of students parading the school grounds. He looked just as intimidated. You pressed closer to him as you walked, trying to gain a sense of comfort. Smiling tenderly, he gave your hand a gentle squeeze.
"Scared y/n?"
You shook your head, taking one last sip from your strawberry milk, then contemplating. You nodded this time. To be honest, you feared school, especially its people. The tight squeezing halls, the scrutinizing gazes and the gossip that spread like a morbid disease to everyone... These things were your greatest nightmare.
"What are you thinking about?"
Sunoo squeezed your face, causing your lips to scrunch up. You swatted his hands away, rubbing your sore cheeks.
"Y/n!" A familiar voice called to you.
Swiveling your head around frantically to see who was calling. It was Sunghoon and Heeseung. Sunghoon walked over in all his glory. He raked his fingers through his hair and flashed a smile, his sharp incisors showing. You covered your eyes.
"What are you doing?" he asked, trying to pry your hands away from your face.
Through the cracks of your fingers, you could see he was amused. His left dimple appeared.
"I can't see," you mutter. "You're too bright." You blushed at your own words.
"Aw man, she's flirting," Heeseung laughed.
Feeling your ears redden, you grabbed onto Sunoo's sleeve and ran closer to the school building, dragging him with you. You couldn't bear to see Sunghoon's expression and his endless teasing. Suddenly, Sunoo's quiet wheezes reached your ears and you immediately slowed down, stopping at the top of the stairs that led to the large school building.
"Sorry," you said.
Sunoo shook his head, unable to speak as he tried to catch his breath. You patted his back as he bent down to cough. He straightened himself up. You noticed one of the sweater drawstrings had fallen over his shoulder and you adjusted it. The baby yellow hoodie made him look like a small chick who had just pecked its way out of an egg. This hoodie had actually been a birthday gift you had given him.
