I S A B E L L A

It was a sunny day, I was outside of my school and ready to get picked up. Lucas still didn't show up, not even when mom pulled up in the parking lot, directly in-front of me.

"C'mon hunny! Your father is waiting and your brother is coming soon." "Yeah, mom. Just a minute! Have to ask Anna something about English."

I wasn't sure if my English teacher had assigned us homework for next week.

"Sure, I'll start the engine."

I went over to my friend Anna.

"Hey Anna! Do you know if the teacher assigned us homework?"
"No, I don't think so." Her blue eyes sparkled in the sun and I could tell, she was tired.
"Ok! Cya tomorr-"

Before I could finish the sentence, something exploded. I turned around and looked at my moms car. That was where the sound came from. It was in flames. Everything. Pieces of the car had flown around. Mom was in that car....

"MOM!"
I ran towards the car until somebody grabbed my waist, only being a few meters away. It was Lucas and he pulled me against him. He had pulled me into a protective hug and had turned my body towards his chest. "Izzy!

I couldn't see the next explosion that came, I only heard another loud noise which sounded more like something crashing than exploding. I tried to brake free out of his grip until he said,"Stop, Izzy. You can't help her."
"What do you mean?! We have to help her! Lucas let go!" I looked up, his eyes meeting mine while I begged him to let me go. I just simply had to help mom.
"You will die if you go there."
"Mom will di-"
"Don't finish that sentence."

I knew it. Mom was dead. I looked back onto the floor and just cried, while Lucas was still holding me, but now his grip was more a hug to comfort me. My arms slung around his waist and we just stood in silence until tears flooded my face and my vision became blurry. I sobbed while Lucas was too, still holding me in his arms. I couldn't stop crying at this point.

"I will always protect you, Bambina. I love you."
I wanted to say I loved him too. I wanted to say it so badly. Because I did.
I wanted to tell him and tell my mom.

-Tuesday-

I woke up in sweat. Another nightmare, more a memory. What if I had gotten in the car, I could've saved her and then she would still live today. Nothing of this would have happened. This was the first time that I had actually gotten this kind of nightmare.
Just now I realized I was clutching my blanket and my knuckles had gone white. I sat up and focused on my breathing. My heart was pounding and my breathing was too fast. Concentrate, Izzy.

It was just a dream.

"Hey, Bella."

I instantly stopped breathing.
"Liam? What are you doing here? Fucking stalker." What was he doing in my room? There is something called privacy.

"I carried you into your bed for you to get at least a little bit of sleep. Because you didn't want to answer me last time I asked what is up with your black eye, I'll ask again. How the fuck did that happen?! " His tone sounded annoyed, but I didn't hear any concern. It seemed like he asked because he had to, as a brother. As if it was expected. Yet, he didn't care, none of my brother really did, if they had to be honest, that's why they ghosted me all these years, because it was easier. Easier than talking to me, asking me, talking about everything that had happened.  This family needed help.
