S A V A N N A H

I ran towards where the subway was, looking out for cops or other people that could be dangerous for me, because there were many, too many, that didn't like me, any maybe even wanted my head. The streets were surprisingly empty as if the universe had made it clear not to interrupt my job, so I was thankful for it.

I had to find a guy that was around my age, probably in a sweater and some jeans, hanging out with his boys, spray painting on the wall, and a large black suitcase. That's where the fun started. These boys probably had the stereotypical childhood; Nobody wanted them, they had younger siblings to look out for so they used the illegal way of getting to money, selling drugs or guns, depended on the characteristic and how traumatized they were.

My boss needed guns and I would deliver them, like always. He had wanted, I had brought, and received too. My money. This time I would get 5 thousand, maybe even a bit more if I was lucky. The lanterns started to turn on, one after one, lighting up the filthy streets into a disgusting, old yellow.

I already heard the trains from afar and looked at the sky. It was dawn and only a few clouds were visible.

I was running already a few hours and it wondered me from where I got all the energy, it was probably because of Jason's call, so I did the best of it. Stones made small sounds under my sneakers and I heard gun shots, so I increased my speed as I turned around a corner of an old building. It had fallen together, and nobody bothered to remove these ruins, so I kept running on old leaves, shattered glass, and some mouldering bricks.

My home wasn't that far away, but I let myself get an energy drink while stopping at a kiosk, for more adrenaline. So with the money that I still had, I bought a monster and downed it directly, throwing the can in the trash.

I heard shouts behind me too, but it didn't bother me, as they soon faded and finally were gone.

I wasn't nervous, it was a typical job for me. It was normal to me, to start a conversation with the client, seduce them a little, and then get what I want after killing them. It was my job, and it was normal to me, you could say it was an every day thing, because I got a call like this almost every day, starting a few days after my 14th birthday.

Jason didn't know about this, and that was necessary for me to fulfill the job. It was something that kept me from believing that I was living a normal, basic teenage life, and I was grateful for it. Even if it came with a bleeding nose or a black eye. It was the excitement, the danger, the thrill, that kept me alive.

That helped me from suffering too long about my parents deaths, that kept me from fully giving up. Just this one call that would turn around my life, at least a bit.

I grew up as an innocent girl, my dad took me to football games, my mom gave me girl advice for a crush in elementary school. It was amazing, I bugged my big brother all the time, while he protected me, from boys, from violence, from ending up in the wrong hands. He always noticed when there was bad influence, he made sure that I continued studying, and even helped me.

We lived in a small family home, perfect for a couple with two kids, a little away from the city, but enough so that you could walk to the next grocery store. I never had many friends, it was because the girls thought that I was weird. I didn't have many pastel clothes, nor white casual sneakers. The boys liked me, but not in a friend way, and you could say some girls didn't like that either. So I was the weird loner, that went skateboarding at night to clear my thoughts.

My brother always held to me, and was my best friend. I wouldn't ever want to leave him, but that was exactly what happened. Well, he left me, to go home, Germany. He went to college there. It was where we grew up, until I was 10, when my dad got a better job, and because I was good in english, no german accent, we moved. Everything changed for me, and I made friends.
