Chapter 3: Ethan's Chapter

*i want to try something out and make a chapter of what Ethan has been thinking so far. Let me know if I should do this again in the future or no just to stick to y/n pov*

POV: Ethan
*a few days prior to Bakers farm*
I got a email from Mia telling me to come and get her. This is great news for me but I don't know how I will feel when I'm with her. Since she went missing me and y/n have gotten even closer. She's been taking care of me and has always been there for me.
I pulled up to y/n's house and knocked on the door. I heard some shuffling before she opened it.
"Hey E, what's up?"
I stared at her for a moment thinking 'wow she's so beautiful even when just wearing sweats and a plain tee'
"It's Mia" I whispered to her, "she contacted me and told me to come pick her up from a farm in Louisiana."
I could see a slight frown appear on her face before she said,
"well I'm coming with you to get her."
She stared me straight in the eye and I knew if I were to argue she would win. I don't know what it is about her but I can't seem to say no to her.
"But what if it's dangerous?"
"Even better because if you think I'm going to let you do something stupid without me you are very wrong my friend"
'Friend' I thought.
I told her to pack quickly then as she smiled up at me and walked away.
'Maybe Mia leaving me has made me realise things about y/n that I never thought about before...maybe I li-'
I quickly shook my thoughts thinking it couldn't be possible.

After a long drive I stopped in front of this swamp. I looked over at y/n to see a grossed out face and started telling her how welcoming this place is but she wasn't listening. Snapping my fingers in her face I said,
"Hey did you hear me?"
"Um, sorry what did you say?"
So I repeated myself chuckling after. She replayed telling me if it didn't smell then it would be giggling afterwards.
'God that giggle is so adorable'
We walked forward seeing a van which made y/n worry to which I tried to reassure her. She just gave me an 'are you serious' look and I shrugged and continued on. A strange man walked in front of us and y/n grabbed my hand because she was nervous. I couldn't help but blush at the contact which was weird because we've held hands before and have hugged many times.
'What is going on with me'
We cautiously walked forward with
y/n tightening her grip on my hand.
"Oh god I think I'm gunna be sick"
I looked to see a giant cow wreath and said,
"Oh my god y/n if you want to turn ba-"
"Woah Woah i still need to say 'I told you so' mister and I'm not leaving you to do this alone. Now I may be stupid for doing this and not turning back but I'm not leaving you"
I nodded at her but internally laughed at how determined she was to make sure I was ok. It was...cute. I crouched under the wreath y/n following close behind. We kept walking until I felt her slow down and look at the dead crows. I squeezed her hand in reassurance.
"Hey we'll being ok I promise. I won't let anything happen to you ok?"
And I meant it I wasn't going to let the person I care for so much get hurt.
"Ok, and the same goes for you. I can't live in an Ethanless world"
I laughed at what she said while she giggled and I could help but think how maybe I have fallen for her without noticing.
We went down a cliff and I caught y/n to make sure she was ok. She walked past me and picked up Mia's purse showing it to me.
"Then that's proof she's in here right?"
"I guess"
I could see she was a bit nervous and honestly I was too so I grabbed her hand as we went inside the rotting house.
*in the house*
I pulled out a flashlight and clipped it onto my shirt as we walked into the house. Y/n walked ahead telling me about a cabinet with chains on it and asked if there was maybe something to open them in the room next to us. I walked ahead of y/n cause there was some strange noises in the house putting my arm up to protect her.
I heard her say something about how gross this kitchen is and I agreed. I walked over to a pot that was in front of me and opened it.
"Ahhh ew"
I was swatting away the cockroach that came out of the pot.
'This is so gross'
I then walked to the fridge and opened it to see a nasty slim substance.
"Ugh what's with this kitchen"
I quickly shut it as y/n said she was glad she didn't have to eat this shit. I continued to look around while also following y/n with my eyes. She walked to a drawer and grabbed something in it.
"Hey Ethan come here"
"What's up"
I stood right behind her bending down so my head was almost resting in her shoulder but not quite which made my breath hit her neck. I could see a slight pink go up to her check and thought 'how cute' before looking at what she wanted to show me.
"It's you" she laughed.
I couldn't give her the satisfaction of laughing at that lame joke but smiled big saying
"ha ha very funny y/n. Thanks for that"
I turned to walk out of the kitchen to which she followed behind.
"Hey there's two way. Which way do we want to go first?"
"Ummm how about the attic because it's scary and we can get it over with."
I led the way up and we found that this place isn't actually that scary.
"Look now we get to watch a movie here!"
"Mmm yeah honestly I don't know how I feel about watching a movie in this house"
I couldn't help but laugh at what's she said while agreeing. We went down stairs and into the living room seeing that it was a lot creepier then the rest of the house. I walked over to the tv while y/n checked out the photos that were laying around.
"Hey come here and watch this"
"Alright"
She walked over to the tv and suddenly there was a sound behind us. I turned around to look while y/n quickly grabbed my hand. When I didn't see anything I turned back to the tv but not without looking at y/n thinking,
'I would do anything to make sure you're safe and won't stop until my last breath'
I may have fallen for my best friend...
