Chapter 12: The old house

I stood in shock. I didn't know what to do.
Finally my brain started working again. I closed my eyes and moved forward to stand closer to him. I moved my arms up to wrap around his neck but moved one of my hands to play with his hair. He grabbed my waist pulling me even closer as if he were trying to make us one person.
We had to pull away since breathing was a thing.
"That was..." I paused still in shock.
"Amazing" Ethan finished.
"Yeah" I breathed out.
My heart felt like it was going a thousand miles per minute. We slowly moved away from each other. A blush started to move up to my face and I tried to suppress it but I couldn't.
"Awww look at you"
Ethan grabbed my cheek and started to pinch it.
"Hey, stop that" I laughed.
I grabbed his hand that was pinching my cheek and pulled him out of the trailer. Then I remembered that we had antique coins that could go into those bird cages in the trailer. I quickly walked back in and went to the box.
"What are you doing?"
"You distracted me and I forgot about this"
"Yeah but you didn't mind the distraction"
"Maybe you're right...maybe you're wrong" I smirked as I put the coins into one of the cages.
I obviously went for the one with the gun first but didn't have enough just yet. So I grabbed Ethan's hand again and dragged him out. This time the phone started to ring.
"Ughhh"
I turned around and walked back in.
"You made it. You're both the first I've ever seen make it this far."
"So, what is it you need us to do? Is it gonna help us get outta here?"
"Yes, now listen carefully, y/n. My family and I... our bodies are contaminated. I can't leave the property unless I get it out. Same goes for Mia."
"Is there a way to get it out?"
"We need the serum. It should clear whatever this stuff is out of the body. As long as you're not too far gone."
"Alright, so where is it?"
"If I knew where one was I'd already be long gone. But I have a feeling my mother has hidden some inside the old house somewhere."
"So if we get this thing, We can help Mia and we can get outta here?"
"Right, and so can I. The old house is near the water – you can't miss it. I just hope you can handle my mother. Be careful. They'll be lookin for ya."
I sighed and put the phone down.
"What did she want?"
I explained what she said and again walked out of the trailer, this time with no interruptions. There was an area that had flashing lights but I didn't brother walking over there since I saw that it needed two key cards.
I walked to the fence behind the trailer but a small green box caught my eye under the trailer.
"Oh helloooo"
I snatched them and told Ethan to give me the shotgun. He gave it to me and I reloaded it. Obviously....I didn't give it back.
We walked to a fence that looked familiar. Then I remembered.
"Hey this is where Mia was taken by Marguerite"
"So we better key an eye out"
I listened to what he said and raised the shotgun a bit. We walked through the bridge that had creepy dolls hanging on it.
I shivered and continued forward.
'I hate dolls'
Suddenly I heard a loud buzzing noise. I was searching for what the noise belonged to when a giant bug started flying at me. Ethan grabbed the knife from my pocket and stabbed it making it explode.
"Oh ew"
I whipped my hand that was holding the front of the shotgun around getting the gunk off of it. After it was off I walked to the door. I saw two more bugs and pointed them out to Ethan.
"I got this"
He walked forward quietly and stabbed both of them. I walked in after and went towards a door. When I opened it the wall said
"She's upstairs. Don't go up"
"Huh....ok"
I started to walk in the room but a bunch of bugs started to attack me and Ethan. So we ran out.
We walked the way we came but went further down and to the right. We opened the door and went in.
"This is the way Mia went in the video"
I said while I walked down the familier hall way. We walked into the room that had the shadow door but didn't see the object we needed so we headed outside. There was a small shack to the left so we walked to it. On the way we saw part of a flame thrower. I picked it up and gave it to Ethan since I had the shot gun. We continued to the shack. We got a few things from inside, including a backpack, and left.
We walked through the next hallway and opened the door. It was another kitchen. There was a cabinet with spiders all over it so I didn't bother going near it.
'I hate spiders too'
I thought kind of glaring at them waiting for one to pounce.
We looked around the rest of the kitchen and got some more items then went outside. There was another small shack so we went to it.
This shack had the burner nozzle for the flame thrower so we attached them.
We walked back but some big bugs came at us again so Ethan took out the knife and took care of them.
When he finished killing them we ventured back to the house.
When we walked in Ethan walked to the cabinet with spiders.
"What are you doing?"
"I wanna test something out"
He raised the flame thrower and flamed the spiders.
"Damn maybe we should bring this back home"
"Ha ha but no we aren't because I don't need you burning down your house"
"Fine" I groaned.
He grabbed what was in there and we left. We walked into that room where the swarm of bugs attacked us. Ethan flamed them and they died with their home exploding.
"Well that's one way to do it"
I laughed a little. There was a hole under it so we crawled under into the small room. In there was the price we needed for the shadow picture. I grabbed it and kept it in my hand hoping this would make the process faster then putting it away and grabbing it again.
When we were about to leave Mia showed up.
"Ethan"
'Bitch I'm here too'
I crossed my arms and rolled my eyes. I think she saw me because said then said my name too.
"No more bullshit, Mia. I want some answers."
"I know. I know. You're right. And I always wanted to tell you – but, I just – I can only remember a little and..."
Lucas came up behind her and grabbed her.
"Daddy, right? You mind if I borrow Mommy for a little bit? Well don't just stand there – do something!"
"Ethan! Y/n! Help!"
'Why does she only call me when she says help? Like seriously'
Lucas began to drag her out and admittedly I got a bit worried.
"Dammit"
"Come on Ethan let's go do the shadow shit"
I opened the door that led to the kitchen and got started by Marguerite being on the other side.
"Stay the FUCK out"
She yelled at me and slammed the door in my face.
"That was rude"
I turned and crossed my arms putting my head up and walking the other way. Ethan fallowed behind me trying to hold in his laugh.
We walked through the hall but I heard Marguerite. I stoped us and crouched behind the box Mia hid behind in the tape. Marguerite came sauntering out coughing then turned around and walked back to the kitchen. I stood and ran to the other room making the shadow of a spider. We started crawling through with me in the front.
"Awww jesus"
There were bugs everywhere. This made me move faster. Once we got to the other side I went for the hatch Mia went in. Inside there was a crank. I grabbed it and got out of the hole. Ethan was waiting keeping an eye out. When he saw me he helped me get up.
I put the crank into the slot that raised a bridge so we wouldn't have to walk through the wall again. I then remembered there was another small shack that needed this crank to raise a bridge so I headed that way to get the things inside.

We were now standing in front of the crow door. My hair was all over my face from running around and hiding hiding. Ethan was covered in bug gunk and sweat as well.
There was a sign on the door.
"Zoe,
You tried to sneak up to the second floor again, didn't you?! Did you think I wouldn't notice?!?!
Even after what happened to Eveline, you just keep talking about some strange medicine.
And what are you planning to do with my altar? You better keep those sticky fingers off of it!
Nobody touches my sacred altar!

'That's awful no wonder Zoe wants out'
I opened the drawer that was by the door and found the key.
"Haha ye-"
"I told you to stay out of here."
Marguerite grabbed me and Ethan then threw us into a hole in the ground.
"Alright, you little cocksuckers, let's get down to business."
Ethan helped me up. When Marguerite started making bugs appear.
"Ethan focus on the bugs I'll get Marguerite"
"Ok"
He pulled out the flame thrower as I got out the shotgun. I shot her once and she said
"Not nice, cher. This is beyond the pale, you hear me?"
'Huh?'
She made bugs start coming at me but Ethan killed them before they could hurt me.
I shot her a few more times and she fell in the hole. Me and Ethan quickly went up the ladder and looked down at her.
" It s mine... It's mine... My light..."
"That's so nasty"
Ethan turned me so I would stop staring at her turning into whatever that liquid is. I walked to the crow door and unlocked it. There in front of us was a box with a note and baby dolls handing around. I read the note to Ethan.
"Regarding the -Series serum: the following items be able synthesize serum.
1. D-Series cranial nerve
2. D-Series peripheral nerve"
"I think that's it"
Then the phone rang.
Ethan picked it up.
"I just got done dealing with your mom and her fucking bugs. I wish you warned us."
I laughed at what he said but thought that it would have been nice to have been warned. He hung up and told me we need to find the arm.
"Hmm ok"
We walked around this area not finding much. There was a room with the piano that looked weird and then a door that needed a lantern to open it.
"Guess we need to go get bug ladies lantern"
I sighed.
"Yeah I guess so"
Ethan grabbed my hand as we went out. We looked down the hole to see Marguerite crawling through a tunnel she made.
"Nooooo I hate spiders and she had to go and become one...nooooooo"
To an outsider I may seem like I'm having the worst night of my life because of this....and to that I say....damn straight I am! I don't want to deal with this! Why can't Jack be back at least he wasn't a spider. I sighed as I stared into the hole. Ethan went down first and I followed. I looked down the tunnel she made and saw her crawling away.
I made a grossed out noise and Ethan just pulled me into him.
"Hey what happened to 'look how far we've made it'?"
"That was different that was goop monsters this...this is a huge spider!"
"What can I do to make you feel better?"
At this point we were walking through the tunnel.
"Mmm I have something in mind but I don't wanna do it in this tunnel"
"I think I'm catching your drift" he said with a slight smirk on his face.
We went up another ladder and came out behind the trailer. I went and unlocked the fence and went straight for the trailer.
"Ok we need to go get that Grenade launcher and anything else in that is in that room"
"Ok we can go do that after...."
He started getting closer to me. I felt my face go red.
'Come on y/n! Why are you blushing you already kissed him once'
He cupped my face and kissed me again. It felt like my stomach was on fire. He pulled away and said
"There now I've made you feel better, yeah?"
I nodded as a big smile made its way onto his adorable face. He started to pull me out of the trailer and head to the house.
'I don't think this man knows what he's doing to me'
