Chapter 16: The Return of Daddy

We grabbed the D-series head and left the room. We were brought outside to a pier. We fought off goopies and collected items as we tried to get to Mia and Zoe.
Finally we go to the end of the pier and ran to the room where they were held.
Ethan ran to Mia getting the restraints off her while I went to Zoe.
"Zoe? Zoe, I–"
"Not now. We don't have the time. Do you have both ingredients?"
Ethan walked over with both ingredients in his hands.
"Right here. This should be enough, right?"
"If we make 'em fast enough. My father and Lucas aren't far away"
Suddenly Mia started to speak up.
"He's coming. Daddy's coming."
'I knew the bitch wasn't dead'
Zoe ignored Mia.
"Good, there's enough for two"
"So, after we make the serum, what's next?" I asked.
'Please say we can leave....please say we can leave... pl-"
"There's a boat outside. We'll take it through the swamp. But neither of us'll get very far without the serum"
Zoe says this while she combines the ingredients to make the serum.
"That was fast" I whispered to myself as Ethan went over and took them from her.
"Hey! One of those is mine"
The room then started to shake. A giant monster bursted through the wall and grabbed me and Ethan.
"Zoe! Get your ass back to the house. I will deal with you later. It's bad enough you take my new daughter from me. Now, you're plotting against me – with my own blood?!"
I yelled at Jack pounding on his fist so he would let me go.
"This is getting old, Jack!"
"Cut it out!" The deformed Jack yelled.
Ethan and I moved around upper area shooting the bulging eyes that stuck out of Jack.
"Hungry! I'm going to kill you. And make Ethan watch. Then I'll kill Ethan. And then Mia."
Jack yelled at us every time we shot the eyes.
"You're not getting out of here."
We exploded some of the eyes and he fell down into the water below us.
"No one loves me." He yelled as he sunk into the water.
"Is he...gone n-"
"You'll choke on your blood before I'm done with you! You two and that bitch Mia!" He sprung out of the water and hit me knocking me into the water below.
"Y/n!!! Don't hurt her you asshole!" Ethan started to shoot Jack furiously.
"Poor thing" Jack said.
I popped and eye that was under him and he turned around yelling at me before he hit me again.
"Idiot – you can't kill me"
He smacked me against the wall and turned back to Ethan.
"Ethan! Ethan! Ethan! You're going to wish you'd had the good sense to lay down and die."
I saw a ladder and climbed up to the top. I found my place by Ethan and started to shoot Jack yet again.
"I'm-gonna get ya! I'm gonna get ya!"
"Jesus can he ever shut up!"
We continued this for what felt like hours but was probably only a few minutes.
Jack continued to yell things at us like,
"Fuck you. I can't die. But you can."
"You're part of the family now."
"I was gonna be her father."
"Hold still! I'm going to enjoy watching you die."
And "Don't be scared."
'Don't be scared?? The fuck!? How! I mean I am not as scared as I was when we first got here but HUH!?'
We continued to shoot Jack and finally we got all the eyes and he went down.
I crouched for a second to yet again catch my breath. Then I sat up,
"Now I've seen everything"
Ethan chuckled and grabbed me hugging me.
"Ethan! Y/n! This way"
We started to walk towards her when Jack shoot back up out of the water.
"Not leaving, are you?"
"Use the serum on him!"
She handed me the syringe.
"You want me to cure him?!"
Jack picked me up and started to laugh his oh so familiar laugh.
"Well shit let's do it then"
I stuck the syringe into the eye that was staring at me.
Jack started to yell how good it felt and dropped me to the ground. Jack was whipping around as Ethan helped me up.
He started to reach for us but turned into the same stone Marguerite turned into.
We walked through the door and Zoe came up to me.
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm ok thanks"
She touched my arm with a small smile then walked out of the room.
"Come on. Mia's waiting for us"
We followed Zoe out. She stoped walking and motioned for Ethan to walk ahead.
"So"
I turned to Zoe.
"Yeah?"
I questioned as she slightly smirked.
"You know I saw the whole thing of how you two protected each other and cared for each other the whole time...and even those kisses" she whispered getting closer to me, lightly bumping into my shoulder.
I started to blush and stutter.
"O-oh yo-you saw all of th-that?"
"Well of course why do you think I knew what was going on when I called"
"I guess that's true"
"Honestly I think you two are cute"
"Heh thanks Zoe"
I stilled had a blush on my cheeks and Zoe continued to tell me how me and Ethan were a great fit for each other.
When we got to the end of the pier Mia was stood there waiting by a boat.
I sighed and started to talk,
"I had to use one of them. There's only one left."
"There's only one left? There can't just be one left!"
Mia started to raise her voice at me.
"What the hell are we gonna do now?" Zoe sounded upset.
'Wait....bitch you just told me to use the syringe!! Why do you sound so surprised!?'
I was so confused but gave the syringe to Ethan to choose. I knew he was going to choose Mia because she was the reason we were here.
'I would have chosen Zoe but I want to be in Ethan's good side....and that's all....I definitely don't want to be one Mia's bad side 😏'
He stuck the syringe into Mia's arm and Zoe gasped.
"Its fine. It was foolish thinking I could escape"
"But Zoe-" Mia started but was cut off.
"Go. All of you just go!"
"Come with us. I'm sure there's someone who can help–" I started.
"This is my home. Apparently, I belong here"
'....well....'
"We'll send help" Ethan and I said at the same time.
"Don't bother! There won't be anyone left to help!"
I looked down. I felt bad after all Zoe was a lot more help than Mia but we came here originally to help her.
Ethan started the boat. I sat next to him and Mia across from him. She went to grab his hand but he moved away. She looked to the side then said,
"Ethan, thank you"
'Is she fucking serious....I DID A LOT OF THE WORK!?'
"Y/n did a lot of the work so you should thank her too. If it weren't for her I don't think we would be in this boat right now. Besides who the hell else was I going to choose?"
'Yeah you tell her Ethan-wait what? You could have chose Zoe!!'
She scoffed at what Ethan said at the end....at least I hope that was that part she scoffed at. Then she turned to me.
"Thanks for helping Ethan and me"
"Yeah"
I turned my head as Mia rolled her eyes and turned away from us completely.
'I swear I will-'
I was taken out of my thoughts by Ethan grabbing my hand. I looked up at him and smiled.
The boat hit something and we swayed for a second. I broke eye contact with Ethan and looked up.
"Is that the boat? How the fuck did that get here?"
"Beats me"
Something hits the boat again and I moved so much I almost fell off. Almost. But Ethan was still holding my hand so he pulled me closer.
"You're OK. What the hell was that?"
Then something big started to move in the water.
"What the fuck? What is that? What is that?"
That thing comes out of the water causing the boat to flip. My grasp on Ethan loosens and everything goes black.
