Chapter Five

Well, this was it. The day Issei was supposed to go on his date. Evening was setting in, and Y/n was busy pacing around his bedroom. He had requested to go with Rias, but she declined him, claiming that his personal feelings might get in the way. He would've argued that point, but he had to trust that his master could handle things. Nevertheless, Y/n couldn't stop worrying. He let out a groan of frustration as he jumped into his bed, burying his face in a pillow.

Minutes passed, than an hour, and with anxiety through the roof, there was only one thing Y/n could think of that would calm him down. He got out of bed, and walked downstairs to the kitchen. He got a large bowl, along with an electric beater. He pull a stick of butter in the bowl, along with white and brown sugar. He turning on the beater and blended the ingredients, making a light brown paste. Then, a little bit of vanilla extract and a single egg. After that was mixed in, he added flour, baking powder, baking soda, and a pinch of salt.

Finally, it was all blended. Y/n stepped over to the oven and turned it on. He waited a few minutes, letting it get hot, while adding chocolate chips to his cookie dough. The timer went off, and Y/n placed two trays of cookie dough in the oven and set the timer for thirteen minutes.

As soon as that happened, the doorbell rang. He ignored it. A moment later, it rang again, but still he ignored it. After a third time, he muttered a curse word and stormed over to the door, wrenching it open. He was about to shout, but stopped himself when he saw his fellow rook piece.

"What it do", she greeted.

"Koneko? What are you doing here?"

"I came at the behest of Rias. Issei is alive and at home, resting".

Y/n let out a large sigh of relief. He smiled at the girl, and motioned for her to follow him inside. He took her to the living room, where she proceeded to lay on the couch, while Y/n sat across from her in a chair.

"So, he's okay?" Y/n asked.

"Totally fine. Took a light spear to the gut, but Rias is healing him now"

"Good, good", he sighed.

"You baking cookies?"

"Yeah, they'll finish soon. You can take some home".

At that moment, she gave a really small, yet rare smile. If nothing else, you could always win this girl over with something sweet.

"So, how'd you join Rias's peerage?", he asked, something he regretted instantly, because Koneko's smile disappeared and was replaced with a frown.

"Uh-I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked. It's not my business"

"No, it's fine. You seem nice enough so I'll tell you the story. Before I met Rias, I belonged to another master. Both me and my older sister served him for a time. Until one day, she killed him, and ran away, leaving me".

"Koneko..."

"Luckily, Lord Sirzechs saved me, and introduced me to Rias. If he hadn't, I would've been a stray. I am forever grateful to him and Rias".

"They're good people, the Gremory family. I met Lady Venelana once, not to long ago".

"What?!", Koneko exclaimed.

"Yep, shortly after I started living on my own, she met me by chance and told me all about the supernatural world. I wasn't surprised, given my Titan abilities".

"Then I guess, in a way, we were both aided by the Gremory family".

"Maybe Koneko, maybe".
