Another summer gone means another school year is about to begin. This summer was full of death and destruction. Everyday the newspaper was filled with stories of gruesome deaths of muggles and wizards alike. It's almost as if there is a grey cast over everything.

The oldest Weasley son, Bill, is marrying Fleur Delacour. Since my parents are friends with the Weasleys and my siblings are friends with their kids I have to go. I don't get the point of it. The world is on the verge of coming to an end and the Weasley family is planning a wedding to dance around and have fun?

I sit off to the side by myself. I don't know many people here, not like the rest of my family. They are all off chatting to people and dancing. Hermione smiles as she walks towards me.

"Hello, Jade," Hermione greets.

I smile. "Hi."

"Your dress is lovely," Hermione tells me.

I nod my head. "I like yours as well."

"I just wanted to say I'm sorry," Hermione tells me.

"For?" I ask.

"The way I've treated you. I've been rude and mean to you just because you're a Slytherin. It's not fair." I nod my head. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine, Hermione." I take a breath. "You're not the only one who felt that way. I just want you and your friends to know that when it comes down to it I'm on your side."

Suddenly a patronus, a lynx, bursts into the tent. People stop and stare in shock and concern.

"The Ministry has fallen. The Minister of Magic is dead. They are coming. They are coming. They are coming."

People start to panic and leave. Death Eaters apparate into the tent. They start to fire at people. I spot Marissa and Flora not far from me.

"Marissa! Flora!" I shout. I grab them in my arms.

"What's happening?" Marissa asks.

"I don't know," I tell her.

"Where are Mum and Dad?" Flora asks.

"I don't know. You two need to listen to me. We have to get home. You need to hold onto me as tight as you can. I'm gonna apparate us out of here," I tell them.

In the blink of an eye we're standing in the living room of our home. I let out a sigh of relief. Marissa and Flora are scared but unharmed. A second later Mum shows up with Caden.

"Mum!" Marissa and Flora shout. They rush to hug her.

"Mum, where's Dad?" I ask.

"He should be here any second," Mum tells me.

A moment later Dad, Briar, and Alden land in the living room. Everyone is fine.

"I think that's enough excitement for one day," Dad says. "Everyone up to bed for the night."

My siblings leave the room but I don't. I look at my parents concerned. "This is it isn't it? This is the start of the war?"

"Jade..." Mum starts.

I shake my head. "Don't lie to me. I'm seventeen. I want to know the truth. I want to know if I should be worried or scared." I can feel myself tearing up. "I want to know if I'm in danger."

Mum wraps her arms around me tightly. "Everything is going to be okay, Jade. You don't have to worry. Not right now."

It's time to head back to Hogwarts. My family doesn't rush through the station as always. It's almost a choir then an exciting adventure. I don't run towards the wall instead I simply walk though it. On the other side everyone is in much the same mood as me.
