I stand over a still sleeping Apollo. "Hey!" I hit him with a pillow. "Get up!" Apollo groans before rolling over away from me. I grab the blanket from him and rip it off. "Come on, Apollo. We're gonna be late because of you."
Apollo Abernathy, my very best friend and not a morning person. We've been inseparable ever since I made the mistake of sitting with him on the Hogwarts Express our first day. Apollo alone is the reason for three quarters of the detentions I've gotten at school.
Apollo groans as he sits up slightly. "We're gonna be late because your last name is de Meath."
I narrow my eyes at him. "Lloyd is already here and if you're not downstairs in five minutes we're leaving without you." Apollo groans. "Get up!"
Lloyd Downing, another of our friend group. He's the type that's so quiet you can forget he's there if you don't check. I've known him since our first year and I could probably count the number of words he's said, but that doesn't mean we love him any less.
I head down to the kitchen. Lloyd is there with my family eating breakfast.
"Shout a little louder next time. I don't think they heard you in London," Briar teases.
Briar de Meath, my younger sister. Come September she'll start her third year at Hogwarts. Like the surprise my family got when I was sorted into Slytherin they were in for another shock when Briar was sorted into Ravenclaw. Really thinking about it, it shouldn't have been a surprise. She's smart and she always uses her head. She's the most logical of any of us in the de Meath household.
I sit down beside Lloyd at the table. "Not my fault Apollo refuses to get up," I tell her.
"For once we won't be late because of Caden," Flora jokes.
Flora de Meath, the third oldest of us de Meath sisters. She won't start at Hogwarts for another two years and she is rather upset by it. She's definitely one to speak her mind and won't stand to be pushed around by our brothers or anyone for that matter.
"Oi," Caden protests.
Caden de Meath, one half of the de Meath twins. The other half is Alden. They start their first year at Hogwarts in September. They have not stopped talking about what house they will be sorted into. They want to be just like our Dad and be sorted in Gryffindor. It doesn't hurt that the great, magnificent Harry Potter is in that house as well.
Dad laughs. "She is right, Caden. You do seem to have a knack for getting into mischief right before we're supposed to leave the house."
Rhonen de Meath, my father and the leader of the de Meath Clan. He's a brave Gryffindor and he works for the Ministry of Magic on the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad.
Mum leans down and kisses Dad's check. "Play nice all of you."
Thalia de Meath, nee Travers, my Mum. She is the epitome of everything a Hufflepuffs should be. She truly is the kindest person I have ever met. Mum's family disowned her when she was sixteen. They were pureblood and thought that Mum dating a half-blood was blasphemy. Even worse than her being a Hufflepuff. Mum obviously didn't care. Her and Dad got married at eighteen and they haven't looked back since.
We all turn to the door when we hear Apollo shuffling in. Everyone cheers at the boy who looks like a zombie.
"Good morning, dear" Mum greets.
Apollo groans in response as he sits down beside me.
"We need coffee stat," I tease.
"Better make it to go, dear," Dad tells Mum. "We've got to get going or..."
