New Beginnings (Hawk x Moon)

West Valley High

(Takes place a week after their last encounter)

Hawk POV

After I finally got through security and the security guard got done looking through my hair (He hates me, not joking), I went and met up with Miguel and Demetri. They were standing next to the trophy case I got kicked into (still kind of pissed at that) and we started to talk about karate and some other stuff until we heard Kyler making fun of this new kid. He shoved past the new kid knocked down his books and then kicked him onto the floor when he went down to pick them up. I went and got in Kyler's face and started to stand up for the new kid while Miguel went to help the new kid with his books.

"What the hell's wrong with you asshole!" I yelled at him.

"Maybe he should watch where he's going, just like you should watch your back Moskowitz." Kyler said and shoved Hawk to the ground.

I pretended that the push hurt me just when Blatt came and saw Kyler pushing me. So, she came and took him to her office. I never thought that I'd be this happy that she was the school counselor. While I was picking myself up off the floor, Miguel went off to first period after he helped pick up the newbie's books. I walked with him to first period since he didn't know where his classroom was and I knew where it was.

"What's your name?" I asked to break the silence between us.

"K-k-Kenny" He answered in a scared voice.

"Sorry about Kyler, Kenny. He's just a douchebag who doesn't care who he hurts as long as he's having fun. Anyway, I'm Hawk."

"What's Cobra Kai?" 

"What?" I was not expecting him to ask that question.

"Cobra Kai, it was on the jacket he was wearing." 

"Cobra Kai is a karate dojo, their motto is "Strike First, Strike Hard, No Mercy" and anyone who's are part of Cobra Kai makes them strong and confident."

"Sounds badass." Kenny answered in an interested tone.

"It is. But trust me, I used to be like you until I joined Cobra Kai. You don't want to get sucked into Cobra Kai and its teachings."

"You're a Cobra Kai?" He asked, his scared voice returning. 

"Not anymore, I quit when I realized that it was turning me into a bully. I used to be the shy kid picked on because of my scar on my lip until Cobra Kai gave me confidence and power. Kyler used to pick on me and my friends until Miguel, the guy who helped you pick up your books, kicked his ass in front of the whole school using karate he learned at Cobra Kai, but he quit after his accident."

"Wow." 

"If your interested in karate, join Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang. That my dojo and we have some of the best senseis in the Valley.

 "I'll look into it."

"Great."

"Thanks for standing up for me." He said with a smile.

"No problem. Just avoid Kyler as best you can or try to find me if you need help."

"Ok. See ya." 

"See ya, Kenny."

Moon POV

The first period bell just rang and Mr. Palmer was taking role. I half listened to him because I was texting Piper. She and I broke up when she moved to San Francisco with her family. I wasn't really heartbroken as I thought I would be, but it still hurt when we broke up. We agreed to stay friends and talk as often as we can, but its not the same. 

Just as Mr. Palmer was starting his lesson, the door opened and Hawk walked in and sat down at his seat. Mr. Palmer just told to see him after class and continued on with his boring biology lesson. He tries to liven the class with some puns, but he does these jokes so often the most they do is annoy everyone. Like every class with Mr. Palmer, it seemed like class took forever to end until (finally) the bell rang. At the end of class, I was walking toward 2nd period until I realized I left my binder back in Mr. Palmer's classroom and went back to get it. Just as I was about to open the door, Hawk came out of the classroom holding my binder in his hands.

"Hey, you know you left your binder?" Hawk said, displaying his signature smirk.

"Really, I had no idea, why else would I be going back to the class where time stands still?" I said sarcastically, while grabbing my binder from him.

"Fair point." 

"Why were you late to class anyway?" I asked him, while we were walking down the hall.

"What's the difference? I'm always late to class." 

"Fine, what was the reason you were late today?" I asked in a mocking sort of voice.

"I was showing this new kid, Kenny, to his classroom." he answered nonchalantly.

"Did Blatt make you do this as a punishment?" 

"No, Kyler was being a douche to him so I told him to piss off, so Kyler pushed me, then Blatt saw what he did and took Kyler to her office. I then showed him to his class and was on my way to class when the bell rang." 

"So, you, mister "I'm not a pussy" (God, I hated how that word was used) stood up for a new kid?" 

"I know that's hard to believe, but I'm trying to change. I don't want to be a bully anymore."

Before I can respond, the second period bell rang and we went our separate ways. I was near my next class. Unfortunately, Hawk had to sprint to his class. The rest of the day goes by slowly with only a few highlights (Like in chemistry, Rickenberger spilt chemicals on himself and burned a hole in his shirt). After school, I see Hawk getting on his motorcycle and he sees me and winks. I look away and blush to myself, trying not to let him see. I really think he's changed, but I don't know if now is the best time to try to repair our relationship. But that doesn't mean it won't happen later.
