Chapter Fourteen

"What did you tell her?" Dani was pinned again but this time, by her soulmate. "She wanted to know so I told her. Happy?" "Are you trying to ruin our relationship? I am happy with her. I've moved on from you. Stop being a homewrecker, will you?" Dani had enough. She was tired of constantly getting blamed. "I wasn't! As much as I wanted to. I wouldn't. No matter what you two will do. We will always stay as soulmates and fate will find its way to bring us back together-" He slapped her, cutting her off, "Soulmate this- Soulmate that- Can YOU JUST STOP?! DIDN'T YOU LEAVE ME LONG AGO? NOW YOU WANT ME BACK? Hey, I'm happy with her right now. Why are you doing this? Why do you suddenly want me back? Huh? Just leave us alone." He pushed her and walked away.

"I know you still love me..." He stopped on his tracks as his heart beats recklessly, "I'm sorry, Sunoo..." No matter how cruel he was to her and to others in the past, she still loved him for a strange reason. She wanted to see his smile when he sees her. She wanted to hear his magnificent laugh whenever she was being clumsy. She wanted to be in his arms again. She didn't want to be alone anymore. She didn't care whether he's crazy or not. She doesn't care if he's a lovesick killer. She'd rather have herself dead by his hands that seeing him with someone else. She doesn't care anymore. She hurt him. She left him. She felt terrible.

He didn't dare to look at her. He wanted to but he wanted to fully move on. He told himself that he did, he truly forgot about her. His heart still longs for her but he didn't want Elliot to be sad as well. He left Dani alone in the hallways. Dani feared him but she loved him a lot. She wished things would go back the way it used to.

Time passed as nothing new happened. The couple kept their distance from her. She felt pain as she watched the couple together. Without her knowing, the lad would constantly take glances of her from the corner of his eyes. He did missed her too and he wished he could go back to her arms.

Those times he would take glances of her, Elliot knew. She was angry but she couldn't do anything. She remembered what Dani said and she knew she was right. Elliot knew he still loves Dani. As much as she tried taking his attention, she knew she couldn't replace his soulmate.

Today was her last day at school before she had to go back to Switzerland. Her sister, unfortunately, will be staying longer. But she couldn't, she had school to attend and she couldn't bare seeing the couple together.  "Too bad you're leaving already. Why does time fly so fast~" One of the girls whined. "I know right." A male student chirped in.  Dani could only smile. She wished Sunoo would approach her and embrace her. She could only dream.

The lad looked at her back as Elliot cling on him. He wasn't being himself again and Elliot noticed it. she looked at where he was looking, only to be disappointed with the outcome. She knew she couldn't make him permanently hers. Elliot didn't want to let him go but she knew one day she had to.

Every night, Elliot was haunted by what she had done. She left her soulmate bleeding and fighting for his life just to save hers. Her wrist's mark was now grey, indicating that their soulmate had passed either by her or by taking his own life.

It was part of the society. When a person's soulmate dies by taking their own life or by their own soulmate's hands, their mark turns grey and would slowly fade, as well as their memories with them. The other person who was still alive, had to suffer great pain until their mark turns grey and their memories fade. Soon, their wrists would be empty, their shared memories would be gone. And they would have to start over and search for their second soulmate who also went through the same situation. Everyone was allowed to have three soulmates in their lifetime. If those three chances were used and their last soulmate dies, his/her life would be taken.

She was full of herself back then and now she found someone new, she didn't want to make the same mistake. But how could she keep him when he is obviously still in love with his soulmate?
