Chapter Sixteen

It was dark. He still didn't know what was goin on. Could it be, he died? But it didn't feel like he died. He was breathing normally and his heart was beating rapidly. He called out but there was no sound coming out. He tried moving but he couldn't feel his body. What exactly was going on?

Soon, a bright path was in front of him. Doesn't bright paths lead to heaven? Was he actually dead? He decided to follow the path and he was pulled into nothing but white. Shortly, he heard cries of happiness. He could hear a familiar voice and he called out, "Mother?" 

"-NOO!" The woman called out. What was happening exactly? Another familiar voice spoke, "-dition?"

"-ar state... normal heartbeat...eyes-" Sunoo felt a man opening his eyes and touching his face. He was in a state of confusion. He tried moving and surprising he could move. He tried opening his eyes and was greeted with a blinding light. Took him a while to adjust and sit upright. Before the lad could ask, a pair of arms embraced him, "SUNOO!" He recognized the pair. It was his parents. He was confused.

He looked around and noticed his surroundings, "What am I doing here?" His voice cracked, as his he hasn't drunk anything for months. "You're in the hospital dear. You were in a coma. Remember when we went out for groceries and you wanted to stay home and our house was being robbed and they attacked you? Good thing we arrived on time..." They looked at each other as a wave of sadness overcome them. The doctor then spoke, "Your parents came with minor injuries. And luckily, they were able to bring you here on time or else you wouldn't make it. You had been in a coma for years now and we were unsure whether you'd wake up or not. But you did... I'll give you all some time." His parents bowed and thanked him before he left.

"Where's Dani?" He was still confused. Did they bring him here when he fainted in the airport? But why would his father be there when he was long gone? And the stories they told him made his mind go blank. His parents looked at him in confusion, "Who is Dani?" Another familiar voice spoke. Sunoo turned to the door to see Jake, "Jake SIM... What do you mean? You saw her. She was with me!"

"Huh? Sunoo, my name is Jake Kim. What do you mean Sim? Also, who's Dani?"

"What..."

Did he lose her again? Sunoo didn't know. He was still confused. He looked at his wrist and burst to tears.  He hated it. He wished he didn't wake up from the coma. He wished he could go back in time. He hated it more that death itself. He looked at his wrist again, not believing his own eyes. Nothing changed, it was the same.

His wrist was empty.
