Chapter twenty five

Lucas P.O.V

I knocked on the door waiting for an answer. I waited a minute but I didn't hear anything so I thought she might have been asleep already. Turning around to go to my room, I stopped when I heard the door open.

I turned around to see her looking out at me giving me a confused look. 

"Oh hey." She said crossing her arms.

"Did you need something?" She asked.

I didn't know what to say. Should I just tell her straight up or ease into it? I didn't  realize how long I had been standing there until she said something.

"Well if you don't need anything, I'm going to bed." She told me before slowly closing the door.

"Wait." I said stepping closer putting my hand on the door to make sure it didn't close.

"There's something I need to tell you."

Without saying anything she turned and went to sit on her bed leaving the door open for me to step in.

Once I stepped in, I closed the door and Walked closer to the bed.

I stood there clearing my throat looking around not knowing where to start. 

"You can sit down." She said pointing to  the bed.

Sitting down I sighed. Why was I so nervous? She was going to have to know sooner or later.

I looked up to see her already looking at me. She quickly looked away with a blush coming into her face.

"So what did you want to tell me?" She asked still looking in the other direction.

"It's about us. Me."

At the mention of us she quickly turned her head to look at me.

"I have to tell you something about me and I don't want it to change the way you see me. I know it's been tough between us but I just want you to know why I've been acting the way I have."

She stayed quiet but looked at me with interest. Nodding her head, she let me know it was ok to continue.

"Years ago when my grandfather was still alive, he did some pretty bad things."

"He had a mate. I never found out her name, but I knew he had messed up with her. She found out that he was cheating on her and had lied to her throughout their whole relationship." 

"So she went to a witch. She asked her to curse him and his family for years until they could finally understand what true love was and how you should cherish your mate. So the witch did as she asked."

"She curse my bloodline. She made it so that the men would experience the same way she felt. Loving someone who didn't care about then and  knew that they deserved better. Although it may seem that the curse affects the female more it, affects them both. The male knows he loves his mate but doesn't know why he can't treat her the way she deserves."

"It's like being so close yet so far from the one thing you truly need. So that's why I've been acting the way I have. I do truly love you and want to try to make us work, but this curse is what's in the way."

She didn't say anything for a while so I thought maybe she didn't care what I had to say.

"So.... how do you break the curse?" She asked quietly. I smiled softly to myself, glad that she understood what was happening and wanted to try and work it out.

"It's complicated really. The male has to fall in love with the female completely. It's hard to explain but that's what has to happen. It will be hard with all the harsh words that will be said and who know what kind of actions will take place."

"I just don't want to hurt you anymore then I already have." I told her looking down at my hands.

"Ok." She answered. "We can try if you want." She said looking at me with a small smile.

Smiling back at her I didn't know what else to say. I was excited for this to happen but I didn't want to hurt her unintentionally. Who knows what my curse could make me do.

Jade's P.O.V

After finding out the whole story about the curse, I finally understood why he was acting like that.

He gave me a smile and we sat in silence for a minute before he spoke up.

"Well umm good night." He said before standing up.

"Oh.. good night." I replied feeling disappointed. I knew he had just explained to me why he couldn't treat me the same, but I thought maybe this would've brought us closer together.

Laying down I watched as he made his at to the door. He stood there for a minute and it confused me.

"Now or never." I heard him mutter to himself. He then turns back around walking quickly back to where I was laying down.

He cups my face in his hands and lifts my head up. Our lips meet and it feels like something I've never felt before.

There were sparks just like the first time we kissed, but this time it felt so much better.

Now it felt like there was true feeling in the kiss and determination to make this work out.

He slowly pulls away and we stare into each other's eyes. He lays my head back on the bed and smiles at me.

"Good night." He tells me again making his way to the door once more.

I stayed quiet still in shock from what had just happened, smiling like an idiot.

"Y-yeah good night." I replied watching as he closed the door.

Maybe there will finally be something real between us.
