Lucifer mentioned that he didn't give Eve an apple but rather a "banana" and Marcus Pierce (Cain) never did like Lucifer from the beginning.
This could be because he got his parents thrown out of Eden... or it could be because Cain is Lucifer's son. The mark didn't make him immortal, it made him vulnerable.
Cain may think that he was abandoned and Lucifer may not have know he had a son at all. But Cain just wants a dad who won't leave him deep down and Lucifer never wanted to be like his father.
