Who am I?

Who am I to you?
asked the Mother,
And I said,
'You are the shoulder
I can cry on,
The one who lifts me up.'

Who am I to you?
Asked the Father,
And I said
'You are my greatest strength,
The one who will
Protect me, no matter what.'

Who am I to you?
Asked the Husband,
And I said,
'You are my better half,
The love of my life.'

Who am I to you?
Asked the Child,
And I said,
'You are a piece of my heart,
The best version me.'

Who am I to you?
Asked the Sister,
And I said,
'You are my first friend,
The one who'll always
Be there for me.'

And at last, I asked,
'Who am I to all of you?'
The only reply I got was
The eerie silence,
Like a void,
'A means to an end.'
