I look back into those days,
The blissful childhood
Were we ran with wind
And sang to streams.
I was this happy little girl,
Full of hopes and dreams.
Now when I look back,
All I can see is
A shadow of my smile.
The day I stepped out
To this big, cruel world
I felt a change in me
That I couldn't explain.
Little did I know
That the excitement I showed
In getting out of
My little happy world
Wouldn't last long.
The world ripped apart
The things I held dear.
It tortured me in ways
I never knew was possible.
It teared apart
Every little thing
That made me
Who I am today,
Until nothing else remained.
And now the world asks me
'What happened to you?
This isn't the real you!'
After everything
You have done to me
How dare you ask me
What happened to me?
You happened.
You sucked the happiness
right out of me.
And left nothing but a
Shadow of my old self.
And now you dare to ask me
What happened to me?
I was born a happy child,
Always free and wild.
I looked at the world
With wonder in my eyes.
The earth danced
Around the sun,
With steps as old as time.
And Then I grew up
And I lost myself.
But sometimes
When I look up
At the night sky,
I can still feel the old me
trying to reach up
To the big old sky.
