Authors Note: I try to keep these little side notes less frequent. That's a picture of her dress just in case I described it horribly. This is a picture of Sarah.

I woke up Sunday morning with a determination to be different. It started with my hair. I decided that I wanted it a different color so I made an appointment with my hairdresser to change it. Secondly, I decided to try makeup. I made up my mind a long time ago that make up was for girls that had something to hide. My mom would always say that true beauty comes from within, and if you need to hide who you were then you aren't beautiful. But there is nothing wrong with wearing a little mascara and lipstick. That's the furthest I'll push it with that. Thirdly I decided that it was time to get healthy. Now I love my body and my shape, but how can I love something that will eventually shut down on me. My mom has been trying for years to get me to change my eating habits and try to exercise more. I think I'm ready now. What harm could it cost to join the gym and maybe get some nutrient advice from my doctor. Lastly I decided to be more outgoing. I'm going to make more friends this year. I'm going to more parties and I'm doing more stupid teenage stuff this year. I am young its time I start acting like it.

I left the house early leaving my mom another note explaining that I won't be out for long. The first place I went was the hair salon. I had my hair dyed to a chocolate red brownish color. After that I had my eyebrows arched and I bought makeup. Well just some mascara,eye-shadow, and two different shades of red and some dark purple lipstick. Then I went to the gym to sign up for a membership. I wouldn't be able to see my doctor until next month, but I'll still try it on my own. Finally I went to the mall to buy some more feminine shoes. I mean don't get me wrong I love converse and vans as much as the next girl but I think its time I start dressing more like a young lady instead of a 13 year old that thinks she's one of the guys. It took me hours to finally find some shoes. If I was smart I would have invited my best friend, but I wanted it to be a surprise to everyone including her. Especially her, she's been wanting to change me since we hit ninth grade.

I picked out different color Toms,a pair of black glittery platform heels and a red pair, a pair of white, light blue, pink, and green wedged heels. I found that my feet were more comfortable in wedged heels. I know what you're thinking...I have all these shoes with no clothes. Well here's the thing my mom buys me a lot of clothes that I refuse to wear because I thought it wouldn't look quite right on me. So I have a closet full of untouchable clothing;I keep all the clothes I wear in my dresser drawers. With that in mind I went home with a higher spirit and a confidence boost. I dodged both my mom and brother that whole day because I wanted to surprise everyone on Monday.

When Monday morning came I was the first one up. I beat my alarm clock which I took as a good sign. How many people can say they woke up almost thirty minutes before their alarm clocks. I got an early start with taking a slow and long shower making sure I cleaned every spot on my body. Then I used my face cloth to wash my face and I brushed my teeth. I made a decision to do my hair before I did anything else. My hairdresser told me that all I have to do is take out the pin curls and I should have the curls I wanted. After that I had to spray some oil sheen on my hair and do a little fluffing. After that I put on my red lipstick and mascara. Then I went into the forbidden place......my closet. I surveyed the area cautiously and I found what I was looking for. A blue sundress that stopped at the middle part of my knee, with a blue belt and a round silver belt buckle and two thick straps. I pulled it out and laid it on my bed trying to decide if I really wanted to do it. After looking at the dress for five minutes I decided to just do it. I decided on the baby blue wedged heels and headed down stairs.

My mom was the first person that saw me. She was putting some eggs on a plate and when she looked up at me her eyes got big. I did a spin for her,"do you like it." She walked up to me poking and pinching my skin,"what happened to my daughter, and why haven't I seen this girl before." I slapped her hands away, laughed,"I decided to make a change." I grabbed a piece of toast,"I have to go before I'm late for the bus." I kissed her on the cheek, grabbed my bag,and left for the bus stop. I slowed down once I seen the kids at my bus stop. I took a deep breath this is it Aby...you can do this. All you have to do is walk up and say hey. I gave myself a mental pep talk while I was walking the rest of the way to the bus stop.

As soon as I got there all eyes were on me but I ignored them all and spotted a girl that I took Economics with. I walked up to her and said,"hey." She looked up at me and gave me a friendly smile,"hi, you look great Abigale." I blushed and looked down,"thanks, but you look better. I love your hair color and those white jeans." Sarah blushed and it was the second cutest blush I've seen. Her cheeks got more red than her hair. She shook her red locks,"did you do the econ homework." I shrugged my shoulders,"eh I did what I understood. I think I might need to stay for tutorial because econ will be the death of me and my GPA." She laughed,"yea well I'm no better. Maybe we should make a study group." I nodded my head,"yea that's a good idea." Just then the bus pulled up and we all piled in. I sat down next to Sarah and we talked more about the study group on our way to school.

I was nervous at first to step off the bus but I built up the courage and found Jas at the bottom of the steps waiting on me and so was Sarah. As soon as I was within her sight her eyes popped open and her mouth hung slack. I walked down towards her,"do you like?" She squeaked like she always does when she gets excited,"do I like??I love it. Your hair, your dress, your shoes, and you're even wearing make up." She hugged me,"I'm so proud of you." I blushed,"well I figured it was time for a change after I got off the phone with Adam." Her smile dropped,"did the call go that bad." I shook my head,"let's just say I'm not playing the fool with two guys. Anyway Jas this Sarah she's in my Econ class." Jas looked over at Sarah and gave her one of her smiles,"oh we already know each other. We have Math together." I laughed,"well in that case ladies shall we."

We walked in the building arm in arm. I felt the stares on us and I almost turned back around until I locked eyes with the deepest blue I've ever seen. I nearly tripped over my feet because those blue eyes belonged to Jason. As in football captain Jason. He was looking at me as though I was some kind of special treat. I tried looking away but his eyes drew me in. Unbeknownst to me I had another pair of eyes on me and those eyes were the green that I've come to like over the past couple of days. But like I said my eyes body and mind was trained on someone that was giving me the look of a wolf that's just found its mate and I was returning the look.

Irish was the furthest thing on my mind and so was Josh and I wanted to keep it that way. Like said before its time to spread my wings and Jason is just what I needed. In the words of Pat Benatar," We are young, heartache to heartache we stand
No promises, no demands love is a battlefield." With that thought I Gave Jason a wink as we walked past him and nearly fainted as I seen him bite his lip out the corner of my eyes.
