𝐇e had wings
And boy, could he fly
Arms out, face upwards,
Flying with a loud cry.

Not a cry of sorrow
Not a terror-filled sound
A sound of happiness,
And a sound of freedom finally found.

And he soared higher and higher and higher
And he touched the face of the sun
And he moved his face up
Him and the light, finally one.

And so, Icarus fell through the gaps in the world
Tumbling, scratching, hurting from wounds he may never recover
And fell scarred into the arms of Apollo,
Finally, reunited with his lover.
