05 | BEST FRIEND'S ( STRICTLY NOT LOVERS ) QUARREL
The moment she got out of the place, she immediately went on to where their rental car was parked to see if Hank was there and much to her delight, he was. And thus, they started gossiping again and this time, their topic was Charles. And she was the one who talked.
For many people who personally know the Professor, it was not a secret that he and Erik used to be friends and what caused their break up was their opposing belief. If light cannot exist without the dark, then Charles will never be complete without Erik. They're the opposite side of the same coin.
While they were busy, probably talking behind everyone's back, a sudden headache hit Cascade like waves, nearly knocking her unconscious. She was lucky that Hank was fast enough to grab her and stop her from hitting her head on the pavement. As the nausea followed, what came after was brief fragments of murky memories and disembodied voices. They were whispering something to her and they're displeased.
As soon as she managed to pick herself up, she thanked Hank for being fast enough to catch her. She doesn't need a head injury to make her situation even worse. She pressed the palm of her hand in her temple.
"Will you be alright?" Hank asked once again, the hint of worry still not leaving his voice. She can feel him staring at her.
She nods herself and uses her free hand to steady herself against the smooth texture of the rental car. "Yes," her voice was strained. She inhaled a deep breath and calmed her racing heart. "I will be. I will...I will just get inside the car."
When she gets inside the car, the four dudes come out of the place, Charles walking in front of them - clearly pissed off. He immediately gets inside the car, slamming the door behind him and situating himself in the driver's seat. Then they all went inside as well, with Peter winking at her but all she could do was to ignore him. She's still trying to cope with the hammering pain of her headache to give herself another thing to be annoyed at.
The journey to the airport was a quiet one, even Peter did not dare to speak up. Perhaps he feels the tension hanging in the air. With a flick of a finger, music gave life to quiet. The song was It's My Party by Leslie Gore. She just couldn't help but to listen to her, she's a very talented singer and a beautiful lady. Everytime she listens to that song, she can remember the times when she still had a crush on her.
Hours later, they arrived at the airport, with a private plane waiting for them. Hank got inside the plane first, followed by Logan, then by Erik. Charles has some words for him. When she was climbing the stairs, his voice made her stop.
"Hey there, Sour Candy."
A frown appeared on her face. She can feel her headache coming back again. She rolls her eyes and turns around to face him, an eyebrow raised. "What?"
"Is there any chance we could see each other again?" he kidded. There might be a grin on his face but she knows he wants to know something. And the thing about being able to feel people's emotion is that they can't lie to you and sometimes, you just always can't handle the truth.
Sighing, she walks down again and stops a few steps away from him. Their height gap makes her feel small - she hates it. "Look. I know you're not lying when you said that you've seen me before, and I believe you." She took a pause and scanned his face. "But I cannot talk to you about it right now. We have...an important thing to do overseas and perhaps after this, that's when we will have the chance to discuss that matter. For now, you'll just have to bury it in the back of your mind and not let it concern you."
