Episode 54 (Beast boy)

"So, it looks like we are not going back home for a long time" I say to Raven as we follow Starfire through the desert.

"Yeah, if I knew I would've packed more books" she answers me. I'm trying to go a little slow on purpose so we can take some distance from Star and Cyborg.

"So, Raven, it seems like we won't be having any alone time... At least in the near future, and telling isn't an option, right?" I ask, although I know the answer, she's still getting used to everything and she's not the biggest fan of changes, nor giving explanations or people knowing too much about her life.

"I know you already told something to Starfire, but I'd rather keep this between us for now, is that a problem?" she asks, and I don't even have to think about it, it's not. She is right, we live in the same place and share the same friends; everything is too new to just spread it around just yet, besides I'm kind of digging this secrecy stuff it gives it an edge.

"No, of course not, I was thinking the same so, same page" I say casually walking near her, so our hands touch each other for a second.

"So, Garfield" she says with a smirk.

"Yeah, well, you don't choose your birthname" I try to explain.

"No yeah, Beast boy is way better, great choice" she says ironically.

"I'm not bothered by it" I say in hopes of her dropping the subject.

"Then you won't mind if I call you Gar" she says. I'm about to say something back but she is so pleased with all of this that I'm just going to let it slide.

"Did you bring your phone with you?" I ask her.

"Yes, but I have my communicator"

"Yeah, but if we try and talk through them everyone could listen, so I was thinking that, if we have to talk, you know just the two of us we could just do it on the phone... Like you know, normal teenagers?" I say a little embarrassed, why do I feel like I'm asking her on a date for the first time.

"Oh... Yeah, no, that's good thinking actually" she says vaguely.

"I mean if you want to... You know is not like it's an obligation, really just, so we can keep in touch, just in case, I mean..." I say very fast, I don't even know what I'm saying nor how to end the sentence. She starts to laugh, and I hope is something good like *Oh BB how funny you are* type of laugh and not *Oh BB you can't even talk*.

"You know, I kind of realize now, you are funny" she says.

"Now? We know each other for years now" I say a little offended.

"I was kidding, see, I am funny too" she says smiling. It's odd to see her smiling and making jokes.

"We will talk about what is considered funny in real life and not in books some other time" I say to tease her.

"We will talk if we have to go to different places. I have my phone, and I want to keep in touch, it's not an obligation" she assures me, which makes me feel a lot better actually.
