Bucky nodded, not smiling, not winking, not doing anything else. Just watching you, gauging your reaction to his proposal. "I...I mean...."
"Only until you find your own place, or you know...permanently so you don't have to bother looking. I just thought, I have it, you need it. Seems like a solution." He smiled genuinely at you before finishing the last piece of his sandwich.
You didn't know what to say, or do. Here was this guy, who you knew since high school, but hadn't seen in five years, inviting you to live with him out of the goodness of his heart. And you knew that was the only reason, because that was how Bucky had been the whole time you knew him. You weren't the best of friends in high school, but because someone you knew was dating his teammate, you were in the same social group. And he was always nice, polite, charming, looking out for people. That was Bucky.
"You don't need to answer now." He said, reaching forward to cover your hand with his. "I just thought I'd offer. Especially as you have all that stuff getting delivered soon, don't you?"
"Oh shit yeah...that definitely won't fit in Naeve's...." You panicked. Bucky wiped his mouth with his napkin and threw it on his plate.
"How about we go see my place, see if you like it? You might find it horrible and then your decision is made for you." He winked. You doubted it. Everything about Bucky was gorgeous, and you were adamant that his flat would be similar.
"Yeah. Sure. It's not like I have many options." You nodded, shoving the last of your panini in your mouth and grabbing your coffee, trying to down as much as you could. Bucky laughed at you.
"I'll get you a new one for the road, don't panic." He said, already standing up and heading to the counter to order it. You smiled. When he turned around with a travel cup of your sweet coffee, you stood, putting your jacket on and following him outside, taking the cup out of his hands and thanking him as you headed to his place.
It wasn't a long walk at all. Or maybe it was, but you and Bucky were talking about his tattoo shop the whole time and it seemed like a very short time between the cafe and him unlocking the door.
"Welcome to casa del Bucky." He said playfully before pushing the door open and holding his arm out for you to enter first. You bowed slightly, smiling as you walked over the threshold.
Then you stumbled to a stop as you finally took in Bucky's apartment.
It was gorgeous. Just as you thought. It was like...a warehouse loft, with exposed brick in the kitchen and wooden flooring, spacious with loads of room and big bright windows. Then it was also really warm and homely, with soft sofas, beanbags, loads of little kitchen things on the counters, a coffee machine, cute dark wooden tables and a big TV hung on the wall, the only wall painted dark blue. He had a giant rug under the 'lounge' area, plants on the shelves and big vintage light bulbs hanging from the ceiling. It honestly looked like something directly out of the 'gorgeous houses' section on Pinterest.
"Obviously when your stuff is delivered we can rearrange. The bathroom is that way," Bucky pointed to the right where there was a dark wooden door. "And there's one bedroom that way," he pointed to the left, off the kitchen. "And my bedroom is up there." He pointed to a set of spiral steps next to that door that led up to some sort of platform.
"A loft bed? Very nice Mr Barnes." You nodded. "Can I?" You pointed to the room that could be yours, and he nodded back to you. You walked over, running your hand over the kitchen counters as you went. It was all very nice. You opened the door and found a relatively big room on the other side. It had a big corner desk, some weights in one corner, a couch and lots of drawings on the wall.
