A loud alarm in the morning was the worst thing to wake up, but it was the most effective.
John stuck and arm out from under his covers and pressed the silence button on the side of his phone before coiling his arm back in. The warmth of the bed was threatening to drag him back down into sweet sweet slumber, but he knew if he stayed he any longer he would be late. So reluctantly, he slid out of the bed and onto the cold floor, which efficiently woke him up. With a yelp, he hopped off the floor and quickly used the bathroom.
As much as he complained about not getting enough sleep, he purposely set his alarm an hour before he would have to get ready so he could go on a quick jog and maybe grab some warm breakfast. Maybe he would get a breakfast burrito, or maybe a sausage biscuit, or some pancakes. His stomach growled, maybe it wasn't the best idea to think of food right now. John pulled in a hoodie over his clothes which was just a tank top and shorts, put on his shoes, grabbed his keys and swiftly left the building.
The morning air was cool, an enjoyable breeze running through his hair. He took a deep breath before beginning his jog. Surprisingly, there was a few people outside besides him. Some were watering plants, others were just sitting on the steps enjoying the weather, and others were leaving for breakfast or some other task. John nodded to one of the security guards he passed and waved at a sweet lady who had offered him some bread roles. In reality, the living area seemed like one big neighborhood, it just happened to be made of mostly teenagers and young adults.
New Bostin hadn't had this friendly air around it. Not that it had bad neighborhoods, his neighborhood was probably the best he lived in. But you couldn't find people sitting outside or going on a walk like you could here. In fact, he always felt like he was dragging Claire and Adrion around with him when he wanted to walk, but they always assured him that they wanted to do so as well.
John shook his head, slipping in his earbuds and playing some music while his jog slowly accelerated to a run. Naturally, his steps began matching the beat of his music, his body becoming its own metronome as if the music was playing from his brain. John always enjoyed taking runs in the morning, they helped clear his mind and ready him for the day. He always assumed they were the reason he could stay in a relatively good mood for most of the day.
John huffed as he cleared a large incline and slowed down to a walk. Slipping his earbuds out of his ears and stuffing his hands in his pockets, he started looking through all the windows of the food places around him. He was just about to go into a small donut shop when he heard his name, well, a variation of his name, being called. "John, hey there little crow." The ravenette turned and found Kuyo, and who he assumed was Rei, coming out of the shop next door. John waved before walking over to the door and greeting them. "Morning Kuyo, Rei, was it?" The greenette nodded before giving John a friendly smile.
"Why are you up so early?" Kuyo asked. "I took a small jog," though it was more of a run, "then I was gonna stop and grab some food before practice." John was about to ask the same thing to the older boys, but one look at them already told him his answer. Kuyo, was wearing a t-shirt and athletic shorts, and had a headband keeping his hair out of his face and Rei wore similar clothes to John, a light hoodie and shorts, and he had a white cap sat on his head. "Same," Kuyo still answered, "this one forced me to run. Then we planned on heading to the school and getting some early practice in." John couldn't help but gawk, it was currently 5:30 in the morning and these two were already getting ready to practice.
Granted, John planned at practicing around 6:45 after his jog which was still pretty early. Practice didn't even start until 7:30, but this just went to show how dedicated these two were. "Trust me it wasn't my decision," Kuyo glared at Rei who laughed before pushing the blue haired male lightly. "I said you didn't have to join me, it was your decision to come along." John turned to Kuyo expectantly, but the older just grumbled and turned away. John quietly laughed before clearing his throat, "is there anywhere you guys recommend for breakfast? I'm kinda stumped on what to get."
Kuyo, who had perked up again at the mention of food, quickly gave his opinion. "This place," pointing with his thumb to the shop they had just left, "has the best breakfast burritos. Like, if you like eggs, cheese, sausage, bacon, anything you like they put into a burrito and it is amazing." While Kuyo was busy trying not to salivate, Rei spoke up. "Though the place you were looking at is good as well. They had really good Boston Cream Doughnuts, in my opinion." John nodded, thanking the two of them.
"Alright little crow, we're gonna head to the school, don't get lost." John huffed but smiled, "dokt drop your pocket." At his words, Kuyo looked down and turned around for a few seconds before looking back up at John, clearly unimpressed. "You're an ass you know that." John couldn't help but laugh, but doing so brought a smile out on to the others face. Kuyo shook his head, "later John." The ravenette waved to both Rei and Kuyo before turning back to the shops.
He huffed, he still didn't know what to get.
After eating both a burrito and a doughnut, because he was indecisive, John hurried back to his dorm with a bloated stomach. Panting, he threw on his uniform, which stuck to his skin due to the thin layer of sweat he had. Fixing up his hair once more, he left his dorm with his school bags and ran right into a very solid chest.
"Ow.." John rubbed his nose and looked up at the blonde wall. "Watch where you're going." Arlo, he thinks, stared down at him indignantly. John huffed, "apologies, but what are your bones made of? I feel like I just ran into a brick wall." Arlo blew a strand of hair out of his face and lightly pushed John back. "Ass," John mumbled as Arlo walked away from him. The ravenette shook his head before going down the opposite way, anything to avoid the blonde.
Even if that meant he must use the stairs.
