I wake up again before the lights are on and notice that I'm the first one up. I stretch quietly and head out, grabbing my mic and strapping it on my waist as I enter the kitchen. I chuck the kettle on and go wash my face and brush my hair, chucking my glasses on as my eyes are straining. When I head back into the kitchen to make my coffee, John is up and making two cups.
"Morning, I figured you were the only one up so I started with the coffee," he says, making it exactly how I would which is nice considering he's been here one day and has noticed something like that.
"Mm it's lovely, thank you," I take a sip. We move over onto the couch overlooking the view of the sunrise, getting cozy and snuggling up a bit.
"I see what you meant about Millie sleeptalking. I thought she must have been having an exorcism or something cos of the noises she was making," he tells me, nearly making me choke on the coffee with laughter. He notices this and smiles.
"Yeah, I heard it once or twice during the night, I don't think anything she said was coherent," I chuckle.
"I also heard you hum a little in your sleep and make some cute noises," he tells me, making me blush and grab a pillow, stuffing my face in it.
"Don't hide," he chuckles, "I actually find it quite adorable."
I drop the pillow, smiling but still blushing. We talk for a while getting to know each other, stopping quickly to make more coffee, and we are outside for a while before anyone else gets up. We find out quite a lot about each other, and I feel comfortable enough to tell him about my son.
"Well your ex is a dick, and also stupid to let you go," he says.
"What about you? Ready to settle down and have kids?" I ask, curious.
"Yeah definitely, I'm 31 so in the next couple years I would like to have a partner and kids. By then I think I'd stop DJ'ing as well, focus more on my trade so that I can be home more," he tells me, making my heart flutter a bit.
"That's really nice," I tell him honestly. "Not many guys would do that for a partner and family, or they do it and resent their family for it."
"The way I look at it, if you have a family and you're not prepared to sacrifice that and fully commit to it, you shouldn't have started that family at all because you're not completely supportive of your partner and making compromises. You can't expect her to just be happy to sit around with the kids and take care of the home while you're off doing whatever and being gone for however long at a time," he divulges, and I agree with him.
"I wish more men thought the way you did," I compliment, and he blushes slightly.
We both look out to the sunrise, admiring the view. I turn my gaze back to John, who is still distracted by the view, and admire his face for a little bit. Unbeknownst to me, he is doing the same to me out of the corner of his eyes, and eventually catches me staring, making me blush and bite my lip.
His gaze narrows on my lip before looking up at my eyes, making eye contact and leaning in slowly to give me time to pull away. I close the gap and feel his lips on mine, surprisingly soft. The kiss is slow and gentle, not forced at all, and we take our time with it, enjoying the moment, getting slightly more passionate before we pull away, smiling.
I smile wide and cuddle into his shoulder, and we both stare back out at the view in front of us, enjoying each others presence.
"I know it's only been a day but I really like you," I mumble to him.
